finally the cabaret is over and we don't have to say the above, if some one asks us when we are in Vail, where we come from.
It's all about sending more troops to Afghanistan. This whole affair once again showed what kind of charletans politicians really are. But I think in the coming elections in 2007 it will be the end of the 66 Democratic party D66 I once was a member of. We over here have a procedure in our constituion that if the Government wants to send troops out for foreign missions the pairlement should be informed. So far no problems. Remembering what happened in Sebrenica it's normal too that there is a lot of sound critism and assurance must be given that every thing possible is done that it will not happen again.
D66 as the smallest mid left coalition party in the government is doing very bad in the polls. Voters didn't like that they broke word that they would not give the mid right parties a majority in pairlement. But apparently they did.
Desperate, their arrogant leaders fail to convince the people that they did it to have a left wing voice in Government. They have to cash defeat after defeat when agreeded matters like the chosen Mayor, a very importent program point since the establishment of the party in 1966, was blocked by the two other parties and with the help from the Labor party in the opposition against this government..
When the Afghan mission was on the agenda D66 threatened to withdraw from government if the government decided to sent the troops.
Reason it was not a safe mission and their might be some casualties. They said let the US sent more troops and in the same time didn't mind to make us a disrespected isolated country.
They calculated that with the support from labor there would be a majority against the government'yets plan. But the Labor party not for gotten who kept them out of government, were after discussion in favor for the plan. Panic all over and what came out yesterday? There is a big majority in pairlement and they D66 voted against, so leaving their two secretaries of state out in the cold and made their position to function hardly impossible. Their leader now stated , they will support the interests of the soldiers when in operation in Afghanistan and stay in pairlement. Also the other two parties in Government play a very discutable role by mash things up to avoid a Governmental crises. They didn't draw the only possible decission and to gain some respect from the people, by writing out new early elections. Obviou7s is that the coalition has actually ended to exisist and it has made them selves unbelievable and unreliable.
Main reason they also are very low in the polls and don't want and can't take the risk of early elections. In the polls Labor when elecions were held today would become the far largest party and they would have dramatic losses.. But fortunately we don't have to be ashamed for being Dutch at the moment. thanks to Labor.
