Looks a little like a Mako but I think we called Salmon shark... Bluedogs on the East coast...

Nope... it's a salmon shark.
Says thay are the same family as the Mako without the snaggle-teeth. Supposed to be good eating. We ate lots of Mako out in Diego Garcia. I'd bet they steak out pretty nicely. :)
The Bulldogs are here too... they're the six-gill sharks you see in the WDFW regs. I don't think salmon sharks get as big as those.

That guy's fishing up in Prince William Sound for them. I guess they're pretty decent fishing. Hopefully they're not taking huge numbers of them and eating what they catch.

Usually grilled. Nothing better than a shark or swordfish steak in my opinion. Was talking to a friend at work one day and he mentioned that most of the fish & chips in England (he's a british guy), were actually dogfish and cod.
I kept a dogfish and filet him out. Tasted pretty good. Found out later though they're not recommended for human consumption around here. Too many pollutants :(
We used to catch sharks in the Indian Ocean for eating. Thrasher had the best meat, but we've eaten Mako and even small Tigers. No shortage of them out there. :)

by the looks of the fish, it looks like it died happy, maybe he got a bite in before the croak.

Saw a show that said it was a close relative of the great white. You can really see the similarity when you see it swimming.
