We were leaving Blake Island this afternoon and as I'm pulling away from the dock I notice our starboard prop does not seem to be engaging. When I gave the starboard engine power, about 1600 RPM's I could finally feel the prop bite. I don't pretend to be mechanically inclined so I'm wondering if anyone here has any ideas. It seems like the transmission is not engaging properly. Thoughts?

We had an old Chevy that would do that when it was low on ATF. With the car, it would leak out as we went down the road or in the parking spot, so you can understand how it escaped notice. With a boat, everything leaks into the bilge, so unless the bilge is pink, it sounds like rebuild time.

Doesn't that have V drives ? Could be trans problem, could be coupler at engine or coupler at shaft. Could be low on fluid, fluid can escape through a faulty cooler. You should be able to see the shaft under the engine, see if it turns when engaged ...Gene

No rubber shearing protection on "real" boats ;)
