Got my first issue compliments of the boat show... All about fishing and saw a tip that seems pretty good... For those who would like to try the red hooks (simulates bleeding bait) but don't want to spend al the extra $$ for them, try this trick...

Buy a red sharpie and just "paint" them. lookie here:

BTW, those are Wally Lures great on Lake Powell... for stripers...

Won't the red ink from a Sharpie wash off after a short while? Also, would the ink give off an offensive odor to the fish?

Well, I dipped the lure in water and tried rubbing it off and it stays on OK. As far as odor, when it is dry, I don't smell it but you make a good point....so I'll coat it with smelly jelly or something similar anyway just to be sure... Hate to offend any fishes...

I've heard of guys buying candy apple fingernail polish to beat Gamakatsu at their own game. The red hooks seem to work though ... as do the pink ones.
