It looks like coming weekend is going to be nice. I want to open the season and also have a book which says that blackmouth fishing season lasts till April. So I plan to troll around Gedney island.
Do you think it is waste of time? What do you think are the chances of catching something at this time? I do not really care about kind of fish but do not want to go far from Everett ramp.
In other thread people talk about halibut. Are there any good spots for this fish in north Puget Sound? Gas is quite expensive, you know....

Gedney (Hat Island) is a great Blackmouth spot. Troll just from the Southeast corner of the bar... and along the south shore of the island in about 90' of water. Take your downriggers right down to the bottom and then up about 10-15 feet. Actually bounce your balls on the bottom and the bring them up. The big blackmouth feed on the needlefish down there and will love the mud you kick up.
Lots of shakers (juvenile Chinook) to keep off, but there are some brutes out there too.

Anyone know when shrimp season opens by chance, I knew of some guy last year that did pretty good right outside of Edmunds. If time off allows I might try it.

I believe shrimp season for most areas is May 4 or 5. Many areas have limited time windows and possibly only one three hour window.
You will need to get a set of regulations and keep looking at the WDF&W website. They've already closed the Port Angeles Harbor Shrimp Fishery and it never opened. Could possibly be closed the night before the fishery is supposed to open.
