You guys may have noticed the new forum.

I was talking with Bob (Webjammin) about the various Bayliner models and variations. Some are very subtle and some are just crazy trying to figure out the numbering scheme. As you can guess from the data points... I want to build an online database. At first with just bayliner, but I envision someplace you can go... type in 2355 and get pictures and model information on every year and variation it was built in.

Whatcha think? The technical aspect is easy enough, but I need to get the data first. Feel free to add, edit or suggest anything. Just remember its going to be in a database, so at some point, some similarity in structure has to be made.

Great idea.

If you guys can think of any fields (remember... this'll be a database)... lemme know (or just add them).

Think in terms of things you might want to search by.

Like...

... all 1998 models
... all Capri
... all 4718 models
... all 47** models

... etc.

Thanks in advance

Oh yeah. Even if you don't know all the info, add what you can, someone else will pick up the difference. And... please add one year only in each (like I added 1997, 1998 and 1999). Each will be a separate record in the database (so we';ll need 3 posts).

This is an excellent idea SS. When we were searching for our boat, it became confusing keeping the different years apart, ie. when did they add the mid cabin on the 2858, etc. Great information and hopefully it doesn't just apply to Bayliner boats.

SS,

Great idea to have a central data base that people can refer to when
seeking out info on particular year & model boat ....
Bayliner will be happy you started with them

If you need help, let me know. I can offer assistance in the photo end
of it if needed. I can make all the pix uniform in size for the data base
if that is what you'd like. Contact me e-mail when you get a chance.

Thanks Al & Sean.

For now... just Bayliners. No special help needed unless you're already a skilled SQL guy on the Linux side of the house. :)

I mainly need input now to get a feel for the structure of the database. What fields will be key, etc.
