In the boat trader...

1997 Maxum 4100 SCR, Merc 454s FWC, 670 hrs on boat w/port eng. completely rebuilt 220hrs ago. ( ok so a little bad luck here ) Nicely equipped, Lake Wa. moored since new. Have $54K in receipts for work done to stringers and hull last year. (holy crap Batman) WILL CONSIDER REAL ESTATE TRADES, (lookin for some swampland ?) $129,000 ***-***-**** SEATTLE

$54K in stringer work on a 1997 ?? He must have included the price of the land the trees were grown on...I hope ol' Seaguppy can design stringers.

You could scratch build a hull for that. :)

Maybe Seapuppy is ready for an upgrade?

The ad tells ya that boating is no longer in this guys future . Can't figure why though, just a few boat bucks.

Was reading a post on another site where a guys newer within 2 year old Sea Ray had stringer failures. It also seperated the shaft from the tranny and the boat was taking on water. He was able to stop the boat from sinking and coast guard made a rescue.

last i read of the thread Sea Ray had decided to replace his boat for him. It was somewhere in the 40 plus foot range, I think a 42 footer.
it sounded like the guy and his family were boating out of the Florida area.

At that point I would have been asking for a refund.

Somebody must be using some real punky wood to go bad that fast. Fiberform and Reinell were real pieces of crap in the transoms and they lasted for years and years.

No doubt there Quality Control on this boat was out to lunch. I myself would not be comfortable with having another replacement. But the good side of this was the manufacturer made things right instead of making repairs.
I'm sure they wanted to cut that boat up and see what and where things went wrong and why.

Or just cut it up and make it go away...
