View Full Version : Raymarine Chart/Plotter
We just upgraded from our Bayliner 2455 (which was a great boat) to a 285 and am planning on installing a Raymarine C80 Chart/Plotter. What does anyone know about this equipment? Good or bad reports?

I had the C70 on my 2452 and I absolutely loved it. I will not use any other plotter on my next boat other than the RayMarine. I have a friend that works for Furuno and could get me an outlandish discount but I liked the RayMarine so much, I bought that instead.
Mike (SS) saw my chartplotter and he can vouch for it. I had the radar, gps, and fish/depth finder on my display.
My next boat if it comes with other than Raymarine mult-display... that system will be torn out and the RayMarine will be put in. BTW, I think for my size boat, the C70 was a good size.
Also, got an email last night about the rebates for the C and E series from RayMarine... If you did not get that, checkout their website and I am sure they have it there as well...

I can definitely tell you I was impressed by the detail and sensitivity. It also has some very intuitive features.
I've operated and worked on many military Radars for many years, and never seen the quality in a sport unit like this one demonstrated.
I played with Doug's Radar for many days while we were fishing Sieku and it's a VERY good choice.

Can't really say anything negative about our C series equipment. the color does seem to show well in daylight also.
Thanks Guys
That input sure makes the decision easier. I am still wavering between the C80 and the E80 which has the satellite overlays and aerial photos.
I checked Raymarine’s web site and they do have a rebate starting today! That’s great!
Think I’ll take that as a sign that I NEED this equipment.
Now all I need is for the Admiral to get a sign.
On second thought I better not wait for that, I don’t think it’s never going to come.
Maybe I’ll just put it on the credit card and try some fast talking later.
Hey!! I am just getting one great idea after another, tomorrow is our thirty-forth anniversary, possible she needs the E80 as a gift. You know it would greatly increase safety and she would only want the best for when the grandchildren are along. I may have to work on this a little but it has possibilities.

Gene, my Admiral was the one that said we WILL get radar... One or two trips in the fog and she was SOLD... I took her to the boat show booths for all the big names and she was too overwhelmed... She said, I knew more about this stuff and to just pick one... yea... I talked about all the tech stuff and she roled her eyes and said... go to Boat US booth and buy it NOW... that was a fun day...
I'd sure push the grand kid angle... for safety, you can not beat radar. As far as the E over the C... I was totally happy with what I had. It really was nice to see the photos overlays on the E but I never see from that angle (satellite) when I drive the boat so I went with the C. The prices however were dramatically higher for the E back two and a half years ago...
