I just purchased a Minn-Kota, 3-bank battery monitor. It looks like a real gizmo and is simple to install. + and - lead to each battery.

I looked at Boatfix, West Marine, G.I. Joes, Cabela's and the best price was on Amazon. Most online retailers charge $75.00. Amazon sells it for $50.00. I'll just have to make sure when I check for the batts' status, the isolator switches will need to be in the "off" positions so there is no cross-over among the batteries.
If you think the Admiral would appreciate the monitor for Christmas, order it from Amazon. When she opens the gift Christmas morning and gasps, you'll be able to tell her you got a great deal, saving $25.00, on Amazon. ;)
