Hope everyone weathered the wind and rains these past couple of days. II Lucky is under cover for the winter but I still get nervous with the wind blowing some missile at it. Hope the rivers settle down so we can get out and view the Xmas ships this year. Be careful out there.

All is well with our Boat and after I built the "Muffler Pipe Boat Shed" (with Gene and Mikes help) the fall season has been a lot less work. I used to get Big Maple leaves and Cedar branches that would stain the gelcoat etc..
And it has held up to some pretty bad weather since being built.
The debris in the water will be an issue for the next few weeks im sure.

Your right Bob- We checked on the boat Saturday - a bunch of logs, trees, and other stuff coming down the river at the POE.
We went to happy hour latter at Ivar's in Mukilteo and the beach was full of new logs as well

Was going to go get fuel and decided to hold off for a week or 2, already looks like the fuel dock prices are edging back up for the Holidays.

Bob, do you have any pics of your boat shed. I just put up a large greenhouse frame this fall to store the boat. Unfortunately the vinyl to cover it has not yet arrived. A temporary blue tarp is keeping the rain off for now. It will be nice to be able to access the boat without having to fight through the bungees and tiedowns as I have done in previous seasons. When the weather is too crummy to get the boat out, it is nice to be able know the boat is nice and dry. I don't know how you guys with the bigger boats in open slips do it. It is like the sports car or classic cars, it is nice to have them close and to be able to check on them anytime. I have often wondered how frequently boatowners with open slips check on their boats during the winter. I know from reading this forum that NW boaters are checking a lot. I know this would be a seperate post but what percentage of folks with say a 35-45 footer have them in a boathouse and how many are out in the weather.

I wonder if the increase had anything to do with the election. I don't know about you but my station went up the very day after Nov 7th and has continued to go up.

Ted, i don't know if it was about the election, to tell ya the truth I never thought of it that way. I was thihking that with the upcoming Holiday usually the driving and for certain the docks fill up at many marina's. I have been turned away many a times the day after Thanks Giving. People get out for them 3 day weekends. I also recall what happened on the 4th of July , it really shot up the week before. Just hoping maybe it slips back at the end of the month. We shall see, or else I maybe missed the chance for the lowest fill of the Year?? Won't be the first time, crap it is hard to think cheap sometimes.
IILucky, I have kept boats out in open slips for the past 7 to 8 years now. Before that I was under cover for around 7.
I like the out side more, but the boat likes the inside more. It just takes more elbow grease on your part, but the pay off for me is when I go down to it I do not feel like I am sitting in a garage. Was hard for me to get use to at first to leave my boat out in the elements but I now would not have it any other way.
Do I miss at times being under cover in winter so I could do some special project, yes- but I get by.
ask away, but you are right, you m,ay want to start another post.

Our boat is in the water in an open slip, and I'm there a few times a week. Granted, I live only five minutes away.... I love spending time on the boat in the slip. I'll go by myslef and have lunch, take a nap, or just hang out on the water. Love it! It does require a lot more work, but it's worth it. It's better than mowing the lawn, and any time spent working on the boat is time on the water!!

There are two photos of the boat shed with a short description of the construction at the bottom on my little freebie web page. (excuse the pop-ups) http://webjammin.50megs.com/photo2.html
