Today we have election day. Yesterday evening we had the last debatting and we had Soccer. Wife wanted to view the politics and I wanted to see the soccer. So up stairs I went. At halve time I found her sleeping on the couch so I switched the politics to Soccer '
But still we both don't knowas 40% of the voters, who to vote for. We can choose out of 24 different parties from ultra left toultra right and all that's in between.
Polls are crazy and contradictious. Do we get a right or a left wing majority is very uncertain and it probably will be a neck to neck race. But I am glad all the hassle, the lies and halve lies are over. But what wondered me again during the Campaign is that people seem to have a very, very short memory. What I think is strange, an extreme left party normally about 6 seats now in all the polls will get about 30 seats. Just few less than the biggest left wing party.
Also one of the coalition parties in Government, the right wing democratic party is losing about 8 seats'Tthe other partner the Christian democrats are fighting with the more moderate Socialist party, who would be the biggest, and probably will win. So I think what we see is a demand for a left wing more social coalition to form a government. But witih the Christian democrats in it as an anchor, to prevent the left to drift to far away. I wonder if this is possible, listening to the statements of the leaders about for them, very important and deal breaker topics. Heard the wife say she will probably vote for the party for the Animals! Amsterdam will be very important factor in this elections. All Amsterdam vote computers were found not to be 100 % safe, now we have to vote the old fashione way, by hand with the old red pencil. As all votes would be hand counted and we are good for 6 seatsand it will be very late, at half past 11 pm before the Amsterdam voting will be known and all party leaders will look at them with big tension as they will make clear who is the winner of this elections, if the voting is so very close as is expected. To be the biggest party is important as the Qeen will be informed as always, the biggest party to start to investigate to form a government that has a majority in pairlement. Btw this can take months! My dillema will be to vote tactical and vote for the moderate socialiststo help them to become the biggest or reward the leader of a small Christian party. Over the years he is decent and not a lying politician who knows his stuff very well and over the past period of government voted the same as the left wing opposition when important social topic arose..He also is in favour for a much more social faced government. Isn't this what he bible teaches us? The duty for all of us to establish a caring society with solidarity among the people? :D :D

Tough choices, Roel, tough choices. Personally, my friend, I think you made the wrong choice, however.

Come on Roel, think about it, brother...politics or soccer? No way, man, think outside the box. The heck with either one, take your woman upstairs and...uh...well...you know...since she was asleep she is already rested up (if you know what I mean ;) )....establish a little "caring solidarity" with your woman.

I think you missed 'the boat' there, so to speak. (No pun intended).

Tony,

I didn't misspell it! No R! in the topic header!

Although people call us the Chinese of Europe we can pronounce the R. ;)

Btw I tossed a € 1 to decide who I was voting for! Unfortunately my candidate from the moderate socialist workers party won my tossing but lost 10 seats in pairlement The guy at the back, the social christians went from 3 to 6.
Weird elections but one thing was clear The Government coalition lost also, one party severe, the other 3 seats. The only clear thing to all the voters don't want a right wing not social government any more.
And as the extreme left party went from 6 to 29! seats and also a new very right wing one topic only party that took part for the first time got 9 seats. So what we have now, is a two party coalition government not from left not from right, is able to get a majority in pairlement. A third party is necessary. Probably it's possible that it will take up to March 2007 before we have a new government according to some political journalists! The wife's party for the animals got 2 seats! Funny to hear the the way the twisted losers make a victory out of their losses!!
