Power corrupts. All these people want is power. They have no connection to
the rest of us.

They have no connection to the rest of us

Don't be so sure, your wallet will be their first "connection"...

Why do I think of Animal Farm?

four legs good, two legs bad...

Yeah, so much for their campaign garb. Now we will really see what the agenda is. Look for gas to go up and hold on to your wallet. They will probably spend the next two years trying to retaliate for Slick Willies Woes. I just hope it does not hurt too much.

Nanci will be like Napoleon in Animal Farm:

"It had become usual to give Napoleon the credit for every successful achievement and every stroke of good fortune. You would often hear one hen remark to another, 'Under the guidance of our Leader, Comrade Napoleon, I have laid five eggs in six days'; or two cows, enjoying a drink at the pool, would exclaim, 'Thanks to the leadership of Comrade Napoleon, how excellent this water tastes!'"

"ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL, BUT SOME ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS"

Animal farm?? I must have missed it. Seems like with all the movies I have seen on the boat with the grandkids this would have been one of them.
Was it a dud?

Now that her reign has begun, Queenie, will rule with an iron fist. There will be much legislation passed in the house that will be drastically modified when introduced into the senate for consideration. With a slim dem. majority in the senate, radical bills won't make it out of committee. It's interesting how a bill passed by the house will be drastically modified in senate committee and conference committee before it is sent to the president. I have a feeling the president will run out of ink, vetoing bills presented on his desk. I don't think the house and senate can come up with a 66% majority vote to override a presidential veto.

The next two years will be very critical for the dems to polish a moderate candidate for the presidency. Hillary and Queenie are not drinking buddies and don't want to share the spotlight so we may see some real interesting "menopause moments." I don't think Hillary will get the dem. presidential nomination, but if she does, this will greatly improve the chance of electing a rep. president.

Randy, the problem is that Pres Bush has never (to my knowledge) ever vetoed any bill... here in lies a problem...

But you are correct, if he does veto, it won't see the light of day... I just hope he does...

qouted from the internet...
Animal Farm is a satirical novella (which can also be understood as a modern fable or allegory) by George Orwell, ostensibly about a group of animals who oust the humans from the farm on which they live. They run the farm themselves, only to have it degenerate into a brutal tyranny of its own. The book was written during World War II and published in 1945, although it was not widely successful until the late 1950s.

Animal Farm is a satirical allegory of Soviet totalitarianism. Orwell based major events in the book on ones from the Soviet Union during the Stalin era. Orwell, a democratic socialist, and a member of the Independent Labour Party for many years, was a critic of Stalin, and was suspicious of Moscow-directed Stalinism after his experiences in the Spanish Civil War.

So Doug, it must not have been a very good book to have been out so long and still no movie

Actually, I have the movie, in cartoon fashion... It has been out a very very long time. Great movie for the cadets to discuss politics, especially that period of history. Kind of fun for them. I show a few scenes at a time and they have to discuss, write paragraphs on the characters and relate them to real world figures of the day. They can see the whole movie after school only... Normally, I'll supply the sodas and take a buck a piece from them and order pizza too...
