This is OT but it deserves mentioning.

A week or so ago at home we were using the bar-b-que grill to cook up some chicken. and we had walked into the house and walked back out and to our suprise the center control knob was melting on the grill control panel. and the control panel was warping up and smoking due to the heat. well we got the gas shut off and the fire out without burning the deck off the house.

But the reason im typing all this is that there are companies out there that get it as far as customer service and customer comunication and Weber Grills is one of them.
I emailed them what had happened and they got back to me within 12 hrs and had all the replacement parts for the grill ordered and shipped to me within a week. all free of charge.

And they were also kind enough to explain to me what had happend to my grill, What had happened is the burner tube had flashed back into the control valve and began to burn under the plastic knob. and they also advised that you should remove the burner or burner tubes and clean them evey year. spiders like to build nests in there and the burner orifices in genereal get clogged and the gas goes the path of least resistance and a back flash will occur.

Its very refreshing to deal with companies that "GET IT" like Weaver Davits, Weber Grills etc.

Good tip, Bob. I'll check my grill for the season. And I'll remember Weber products for the future.

(Did the chicken turn out ok?)

There are a couple like that "Get It" as Bob mentions. Weaver comes to mind, as does Origo. Also great folks.

"Smoked" chicken huh? :D

Bob--You mean the fire is supposed to be inside the BBQ? I always thought BBQ's heated with an outside the kettle, surround-flame to evenly cook the chicken! :joker:

Bob had this idea for keeping the knobs warm in the winter.

Nothing like a warm-knobber on a frosty morning...

SS...sure you don't have that backwards? Knob-warmer? :D

Definately need to add Bennett to one of those Marine companies that gets it! You don't even have to be the original purchaser of their products and they will send repair parts out free of charge!
