I am trying to find the book you mentioned and amazon & Google don't respond well to "Northwest Passage Book".
....West marine comes up with: Charlies Charts North to Alaska, 3rd Ed. (Victoria, B.C. to Glacier Bay, Alaska) Is this what you had in mind??
appreciating the tip...just trying to find out what it is pointing me to. :|

We have used the Marine Atlas for roadmapping through that area for years.
Has course info and facilities info. I have an older one you can borrow to check it out before buying, since they are sort of expensive (to me)

Tony--thanks for the offer, and for reminding me about that atlas. I decided to get the 3312 chart pack when I was at the boat show and have last years Northwest Boat Travel so should be in pretty good shape. Also, now that you remind me, I have a friend with that Atlas and since he is close by I will borrow his.

The absolute, very best book on Desolation Sound is the Dreamspeaker Guide to Desolation Sound and the Discovery Islands. The authors have a full color mini-chart of every single anchorage, harbor and dock in the area...it's like having local knowledge aboard.
Their books on the Gulf Islands and San Juans are just as good. Pricey but good.
EDIT: here is a link: http://www.dreamspeaker.ca/books.htm
