Soon I will be hauling out my boat for bottom paint and other projects below the water line. I will be installing a new thru hull (lowrance NEMA 2000) transducer in place of the depth sounder transducer the boat has now. What is the procedure, sealant etc! to R&R these?

I've seen some very detailed instructions and ideas out there. It depends somewhat on were in the hull you're going to place is and what the construction is in that area.

It should be faired in and level, and of course sealed properly. Some have advised cutting the hole oversized, then fill the hole with resin and re-cutting.

I do my own work on our boat, but this was something I had the yard do for me a couple years ago. It didn't cost me much at all and they had it done alot quicker than I would have...

Cutting the fairing block to fit the contour of the hull is the tricky part, and not having the tools to do it, it was worth it to me to have it done right.

Just make sure you avoid the lift area (straps) and or the trailer rollers/bunks for your location of the transducer.

As ss says, there are plenty of directions out there. I'm sure you got a good set with the transducer too. Not too hard cutting a hole through the hull, sealing around it... and I'd defintely do it from the inside...

Thanks for the advice. I just may have the boat yard do this job!
