I'm sure some of you might know about these, but I wanted to pass along a handy painting tool that I used today. http://www.prevalspraygun.com/
I wanted to re-paint my hull vent louvers and had some paint mixed to match. I added the paint and a little thinner, and layed down a couple nice coats using the spayer. Great results- in fact better than a regular old "rattle can".

Steve--looks like a real gizmo. Thanks for the info. Where did you get it?

I have a similar gizmo that you fill with paint and then pressurize it with an air pump. Works great for little jobs. I'll post a pix when I find it... bought it many many years ago and have not used it in recent history. I use my devilbiss paint sprayers for bigger jobs. But it is nice to have something that is not connected to a hose...
Most any marine supply shop that sells epoxy will have them. West Marine has them as does Harbor Marine in Everett. They're used a lot to spray gelcoat in small repairs. Cool little sprayer you throw away when done.

I got it at ace hardware here in anaortes. I was really impressed with how well it worked. I've walked past them many times, figuring you get what you pay for.... I think it was 7 or 8 bucks, and cleaned up real easy to use again.
The gal at ace said she used to work for a shipwright and they used them all the time for small projects. She said they are great for spraying varnish.
Yeah... and you won't lose a $100 sprayer if something happens and it kicks before you can get the gun cleaned when shooting epoxy :)

Nate Brown uses those little guys when he's away from his shop doing a gelcoat repair. He even recommended I use one is I didn't have the appropriate spray gun & compressor (sp?).
