Every time I view a forum, I have to reset the "Sorted by" at the bottom of the forum. I keep resetting it to "Last Post Time" and "Desceding" Sort Order so newest threads are on top within that forum. I come back later and the forum has reset to "Thread Title" and "Ascending".

In the UserCP (Control Panel) I have "Thread Display Options" set to "Linear - Oldest First" so that when I open a thread the newest posts under that thread are on the bottom (like BOC).

What am I missing here?

I think the two are un-doing each other. Your setting in the UCP (oldest first...) sounds like it's the opposite of what you want when in the forums themselves?

I'd play around with those until you get them the way you want and you should never have to reset them again daya-to-day.

You can't have it both ways. Either set the UserCP for all of the board or set each one individually.

So, it sound as if you can't have it set like most other forums (ie. BOC) where the forum list shows the newest post on top (sorted by last post date) and the threads in each post sorted from oldest on top and newest on the bottom (like BOC and other forums using the same format). Is this correct? Or am I missing something?

I tried all of the "Thread Display Options" in the UserCP. All it does is affect how the threads under the particular post are displayed. It had no effect on the forum list itself. Every time I visit, I have to reset the "Display Options" at the bottom of the page because it defaults to :

Sorted by Thread Title
From the last day
Sort order Ascending

Every time I open the General Boating Topics, the first thread is "1965 ChrisCraft 32' Connie".

Am I the only one having this problem? Is it a cookie issue?

I'm having the same problem. I have "thread display mode" in the control panel set to "Linear - oldest first" so I can read an individual thread in first to last order. But, every time I open a forum it's display defaults to 'sort by thread name' instead of by the date of the most recent posting.

There are a couple of things going on here.

First of all.

All forums are set to "Decsending Sort Order" (Newest to oldest), and secondary sorted by "Last Post Time".

If you have the default settings, this means you'll see the most recent posts at the op of each forum when you enter. You can of course overide those setting in your UCP (User Control Panel). There is also a FAQ file that might better answer your questions about each setting in there.

I think this is the same as BOC (and others I frequent), but was my choice when setting things up. I just prefer having the most recent posts at the top as I come into each forum.

We can change many things about this forum, just lemme know in a post and we can talk it through. :)
