I was thinking of going to Victoria this weekend. I want to stay in front of the Empress Hotel on the wharf.

1. Is it first come, first serve, as far as moorage?

2. If I cross the Strait from Pt Townsend Friday morning and arrive around 9 a.m., do you think I will be able to get moorage then?

3. Or, should I make reservations at the Coastside Hotel and Marina? I have never stayed there. Is it nice? Walking distance to downtown?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Tony

1. First come, first served... (I never had a problem squeezing in, I did have a problem getting power first night most times until I built a splitter and borrow another boaters hook up).
2. Yes, I go across early for that reason and also to avoid the mid-late morning winds (rougher the later the start in the AM).
3. I moored at Coastside and you can use all the amenities of the hotel (indoor pool, workout room and spa). Also you get free rides to and from town by chauferred van. Just call them as to where you are located and they will pick you up at that location. I used them to go to the movies and back again. Also did a bit of food shopping at a distant grocery...

I prefer mooring in front of the Empress cause its cheaper, closer to town and like to watch the entertainment on the prominade in the evening.
