Well last weekend we finally made it out on the boat. We got a late start out of Dagmars Saturday afternoon. The admiral and my daughter could not leave home untill afternoon. They were waiting for the results from my daughters dance try outs. They have to audition every year for the dance team. This year she made four dance teams and possibly a duet so we will be busy in the fall when the competitions start again. They arrived at the boat around three with my older daughter and we took off. Stopped at Everett for fuel I must be getting better at the Everett docking thing, I pulled right into the dock tied off the stern and brought the bow in. It looked like I really knew what I was doing. After fueling up we headed out. Jetty Island was full of Eagles, we have never seen so many of them there. They were perched on the rocks one about every twenty feet, pretty cool. The run to Oak Harbor was faily routine, I did notice the starboard engine was running at about 185 on the temp gauge so I guess I am looking at flushing the system. I have not done that yet on this boat so it wil be another learning adventure. Once we reached Onamac point and started toward the channel I started noticing floats ahead of me. As I got closer it looked like a mine field. Then it hit me the native americans most be shrimping. I slowed down to about 8 knots and spent over half an hour weaving my way through pots. They were literally everywhere. Once we got into the marina and tied up for the night I noticed they had several boats in the marina and one large alumninum boat that must have been the processor. Right around dusk they all started to come in and unload onto the processor. I was suprized that some of them had absolutly no regard for the no wake zones around the marina. Others followed the zones just like the rest of us have to.

We had a good time just relaxing on the boat for the evening, had some cocktails and snacks, then grilled some steaks and chicken for dinner. After dinner we tried out the new 20 LCD tv and it was suprizing how much better the picture was compared to the old tv we had, and we were watching regular channels next time we will try a movie. Sunday morning I let everyone sleep late, for some reason the boat puts the rest of the family out I think they would sleep all day. I was up at 7:30 walking the dog just like a normal day. I was a little worried about the run back the weather forecast was three ft wind waves. We left around 11:00 and the run back was fairly nice (after I got through the shrimp pot mine field ) we did not hit any rough water or three footers so I am not sure what the weather report was talking about. I rained on us just as we got outside of Everett but overall it was a nice weekend, just to short.

Ted, thank you. And the trip was fun just very short. Luckily we are headed for more good weather and I will be able to get the wife to the boat on Friday night. Then I can start running earlier in the day and have some time to relax and walk the docks when we get to port.

Reading your post makes me think I should take the straits this Saturday, I know that miine field you speak of all to well and I get little worn out being overly concerned about one of those wrapped up on my shaft. If ya want to bend a strut and also the shaft, a pot line is a good way to do it.
