Going to begin to head North this Friday, it is possible we may stop at Eagle Harbor . If we do , does anyone know the best pace to anchor in there? and what the bottom is made up of, mud, silt , sand , eel grass ,etc.
I have not been in there since 92.
If we do not stop and push further north then I have no idea where we will end up, Gawd I like it when that happens though.
My wife wants Poulsbo but the power squadron is nesting there this weekend.

I kinda just want to push further and make it a shorter trip on Saturday so we will be in the islands, I am so confused- I better open a cold beer and give this a coin toss....

Hudson Point Marina in Pt Townsend is now open, with their new docks and reconfigured marina.

Otherwise, there's Kingston, Pt Ludlow, Mats Mats Bay, Hadock if your going on the outside. Edmonds, Everett, Langley, or LaConner on the inside.

Ever been to Hope Island? Just past Laconner toward Deception Pass. Three park buoys, but watch your tides.

I anchored in Winslow a long time ago, Brad. Don't recall having a problem. Lots of folks anchor there.

Pt Townsend is a good stop. That way you can get an early start on the Strait the next morning.

Whatever ya do, have a great trip! Sounds exciting and fun....

you don't even have to drop an anchor in Winslow......they have those funky rope bouy systems there,,,,,like the one on the side of Blake Island...but the people who anchor out are quite interesting...and their dogs..lol

Brad -
We last anchored in Eagle Harbor two years ago on Memorial Day weekend, so space was a bit of a problem. Lots of private mooring bouys and lots of the old derelict liveaboards (hopefully this is improving). We anchored well clear of the restricted areas, on the south side of the harbor, west of a small marina. Good holding ground.

The squatters gave my crew a creepy feeling, so we have not been back. Another couple of ideas would be either Blakely Harbor, with a good view of Seattle, or Port Madison, which we have not tried.

I will also second Northern's suggestions of Port Ludlow, Port Townsend, or possibly even Mystery Bay.

Thanks for all the suggetions on Marina's guys but for crying out loud, ya think I just bought my first boat or something and do not know my way around :-)
Most of the time my first stop for me is Port Ludlow, then I cross next morning.
Reason I ask about Winslow is a friend of mine who is on his way over now from Ketchum Idaho is stopping in for a few hours then Off to Bainbridge Saturday for his sister's store opening.
We might pop in for a visit.
I heard about all the transients but I thought that was getting cleaned up some.
Nice to know that have those goofy lookiing mooring rope buoys or what ever they are. I have used the ones at Reed Harbor on Stuart island before. They work pretty good.
How long are the the ones in eagle?
