Hi All,

First time poster here but have been reading and learning quite a bit over the past 2 months or so. My wife and I are purchasing our first boat which we are scheduled to close on the 1st of August. The boat is a `91 Bayliner 3058. We are having more of a difficult time finding or even getting return phone calls/emails from marinas we have checked into in the South Sound (we live in Puyallup). If you guys know of any open slips in the 32-36 range we would be extremely grateful.
You can email me at wineandthunder@yahoo.com (my wife's email as she has taken on the responsibility of finding a home for our new boat :-)).

Thanks!
Richard & Heidi

Have you tried Chinook Landing on Marine View Drive in Tacoma?
phone number is 253-627-7676
Last week they had a moorage available sign out front.

Welcome aboard Richard and Heidi. If you are new to boating, I'd recommend you both attend a Coast Guard Auxillary or Power Squadron new boater class. I attended a CG Auxillary many years ago when we bought our first boat. The class was very worthwhile. You're purchasing a nice boat so you'll want to be able to handle it properly.

While at the Islander Marina on Lopez Island over the Fourth, I watched a guy and his wife attempt to put a 20 boat in a slip, one boat away from us. The wife had enough sense to use their deckpole to avoid colliding with the boat next door. The guy had no idea how to handle his boat. Good thing it was a small boat and he went slowly. He was sober too!!!

Thank you all for the welcome!
We have already decided to take a boating class and will be doing so as soon as one will be available near us. The PO has already promised to help us out as much as possible. The wife will call Chinook again in the morning. It seems that we have made a lot of calls/emails last week and not one was returned. Why do you think that is?
Thanks again!

I moore at Modutech Marine on Marine View Drive. They always have a few covered slips available. I am in a 34' covered slip, and I pay $250 per month with electricity included. It's not a pretty marina becaue it is a boat building and repair facility, and the Hylebos Waterway itself is pretty industrial--but the price is low for covered moorage. Stop by there Monday through Friday during normal work hours, and they will show you the docks. I think the lady that takes care of the moorage has Friday off. If you end up morring there, let me know and I'll fill you in on other details.

Jennie;

Got any pictures of "Friendship II" you'd like to share? I've seen a couple online, but I suspect they don't do her justice. What a cool old boat. How long have you owned her?

I have tons of pictures, but I don't know how to share them. I purchased the Friendship II 4 years ago this August.

You can upload them into a message, or when Bob gets back he can set ya up with a Gallery Web page and you can upload them there. Looks like a boat with some history.
