OK, so its really not my new boat... But having fun in Hawaii teaching urchins how to sail and visiting all the hot spots... Hit Arizona memorial yesterday along with the new Pacific Air Museum and today did the swap meet at Aloha Stadium and this PM did lunch on and toured Mighty Mo...

BTW, Lea broke her leg (actually she fractured it in two places) and I must say Trippler Army hospital is a nice place at 1AM till 6AM (she waited til the pain got worse before admitting she needed to get some drugs... (and xrays). How did she do it? short story, she jumped off the sailboat to tie her up while also teaching cadets how to sail, slipped off the dock and into the water. She thought she only twisted her ankle but by afternoon it was swollen and black and blue was showing. I really wanted to bring her to the hospital but she refused till 1AM... SHe is fine, has a heavy cast till Friday and then we hope she shifts to a walking cast. Her only other possibility is one of her tendons may be torn and that may mean operation (when we get back to WA).

So, she is in great spirits (NOT) and I am plying her with perciset and when required, Mai Tai's... http://www.curtisnjrotc.com/htdocs1/mightymo/hawaiileadership07%20030a.jpg

She's ****ed the rest of the summer will be kinda hard getting around. She still wants to go on the boat with me North sometime end of July, beginning of August...

SO that's our news as of today. Still having fun teaching sailing and enjoying the warmth and sunshine...

Wow, what a bummer for Lea. Fortunately she might not need surgery. Did she fracture her fibula? How long in the walking cast--6 wks? It will be a challenge for her to get in/out of the boat. Can she dock the boat while you handle the lines?

She has two fractures of the fibula. One near the ankle and one about half way up on the opposite side of the lower fracture. I hope she gets the walking cast this Friday after viewing the xrays and comparing yesterdays...

She normally drives the boat up the trailer but I think I'll be doing both the driving and the tending. Do it all the time w/o help when I go it alone anyway. Its worth the challenge !!!!

I'm sorry to hear about Lea, Doug. Please give her our regards and get well wishes.

You look good on the Mighty Mo. Have you lost weight?

Have a good trip the rest of the week....

Major bummer!!!

Tell Lea we're sorry to hear her vacation got off to such a bum start. She's gonna have to treat herself now. Has she gotten to see Danny Couch perform since you guys have been over this time? You'll have to get an extra umbrella in her drink. Hopefully she'll be on her feet just fine for your boat trip.

Hey Doug, I just caught this,
Sorry to hear about Lea. Give her our best.
Will make boarding a little slower, but I see your new boat looks great and comfy for solid recuperation time
