Did anyone have any luck with Ling Cod this weekend? I was unable to go due to an overbooked schedule. Hope someone hooked one of these big uglies! :P

They may be fugly, but they taste real good! :P
Those guys I worked with up on Whidbey Island, would bring fresh Ling Cod in a couple times a week during the season and fry it up in peanut oil. Best fish and chips you could imagine.
... hhhmmm good

fresh Ling Cod / fry it up in peanut oil / best fish and chips you could imagine
SS,
I love fish and chips ? Is there a good place there to get some - fresh ?
I have never had it fried in peanut oil .. http://www.geocities.com/roomnl/IBNW/eat_a.gif
I love F&C, and I have 3 favorite places in London we get them when we
are there each year. When in Bath, England, I had F&C 7 nights in a row ..
Now the British Health Authority says that "Chippies", that is the authentic
Fish and Chip Shops, can no longer serve F&C in the traditional manner ....
that has always been wrapped in newspaper with vinegar and salt .. :(
Haven't been out for lingcod yet. Read there were 200-300 boats out opening day at Possession Pt. Glad to see they're coming back. Used to fill the boat with them and rockfish around Rosario Strait back in the 60's.
Good lingcod cover article in today's Getaways:

I went out for opening day at Possesion. I must have missed the crowd getting there at around 11:30. The best time for the tide was real early until about 10. I could not make it for dawn patrol because I had kids with me for a day of fishin! Lots of fun to see them get excited with a fish on the line.
