Well we had a great time in Poulsbo this weekend! The day was absolutely gorgeous and the views from the water were tremendous. This was the first time for us into Poulsbo and we found that it was a great little theme town. I would like some input however in terms of boat handling if you guys would be gracious enough to assist.
I have a 3058 single screw and I am still getting used to how she is supposed to handle. Despite it being a very nice day on our return trip back through the locks, there was some pretty good wind coming from the north kicking up swells 3-5 ft which I was taking on the port sidewhich really rocked the boat. The kids loved the ride but I hate the feeling of not being in control. I was seeing smaller boats on plane just going straight across but I ended up adjusting my course so that I would quarter the swells and then turning back towards the locks. I had my tabs buried so that I could "feel" more control but even then it seemed we would get rocked quite a bit. Any pointers you all can give would be much appreciated to this new boater.

Cheers!
Richard

You did exactly what you should have done. Taken the waves at the quarter and having your tabs down will provide the smoothest ride in those conditions. The high speed runners bounce pretty good (I know, I was running fast but had to take them on head long due to being in Gig Harbor and heading directly into the swells, wind and incoming tides... White caps all the way... I had to slow down a few times due to huge waves but for the most part, I was like your kids, enjoying the bounce while the Admiral gave me the "stare"... as she white knuckled the rails...
