There are a few things in life that really p--s me off, and one of them is when an owner does not taking care of his/her boat. If someone has a boat and neglects it, then he/she shouldn't have it.

But what really p--ses me off is when a government agency owns a nice piece of equipment and totally neglects it maintenance. This morning I drove to Lake Chelan and directly across from the Lake Chelan State Park entrance is the Chelan County Sheriff's boat in winter storage. It is (was) a nice 28' Glasply. I wonder if the engines were properly winterized before it was put in "storage?" I bet the flybridge helm gauges and electronics won't be in good working order after being exposed to the snow and rain this winter. Disgusting how Chelan County Sheriff's department stores this nice boat.

Me thinks someone is going to call town hall and make a complaint about the boat... I know I would! tax dollars wasted....

I sent the Chelan County Commissioners the above post. I know two of them and I'm sure the sheriff will receive a forwarded copy of the email. The commissioners are good men, none of them will approve of the storage.

Yeah... I'd guess their boat operators need to get back to the basics. That's a shame. If nothing else I'd ask them in the spring who pays for it now.

I received an email note from one of the commissioners. How about that, a county commissioner responding to his email on a Saturday. He's one of the two commissioners that I know and does a good job. He said the county sold the boat in the pict 3 yrs ago and replaced it with an aluminum boat that is taken out of the water only for scheduled maintenance.

Fortunately, I prefaced my email to them that if the county no longer owns the boat, then disregard my ranting.

Driving to Couer d'Alene the last few weeks and just off I-90 is a Bayliner dealership. Out in front visible from the freeway is a late model 2000 ish 280 with no cover and it's been snowing and raining like crazy. I have half a mind to make a low ball offer based on the way it's been treated! W H Y would they just leave it sitting out in the winter in the snow and rain? I'm sure that can't be good for it? I would think water could get in freeze and thaw and cause all kinds of damage? At one point it had about 6 inches of snow on/in it? Strange!

i...why pay the moorage?

For the $150/mo it's cheaper than fixing it. There are many boats in there that likely will never see the water again. I dunno... it's just such a waste though.
