I'm looking for 2 downriggers in good condition. 2 scotty or 2 cannon electrics, or 1 manual cannon and 1 elect cannon. Needs 48" boom min, prefer telescoping. View profile to send email.
Thanks!

I have a pair you might be interested in. The boat I just bought is fitted with Penn Fathomasters. One electric and one manual.
The electric is an 835 and I think the manual is a 625. I've also got all the swivel bases and power jacks installed, but am gonna pull them and install connectors for the pair of Scottys that I have already.
They came with the boat, but I think 4 downriggers might be overkill. :)

Sure, certainly worth a look. I'm not in a huge hurry, but when you get a chance, let me know what you think you might want for them and maybe grap a photo or two.
I've been scouring ebay for downriggers, but it seems that the ending selling price is always so close to the cost of new that it doesn't make sense to get into the bidding wars. Or the used ones appear to be a little over used.
What boat did you get?

1997 2859.
I already have two Scottys from my last boat aboard now. Make me an offer if you're interested. I'd probably like to sell the whole mess together if the holes left behind aren't too ghastly. :)

I'll do a little research on the Penns. I used to have a Fathom Master manual with 24" boom that worked fine for several years. I've never had the Penn electric, or really even known anyone with one. My brother (Valdez Fisher Extrodinair) likes scotty electrics. I've had good luck with cannon electrics. I'll let you know in the next few days which direction I'm headed.
Thanks!

No worries either way. I like the Penn operation a little better than my Scottys actually. I went fishing with a guy a couple years back that had a pair. They're pretty smooth. They'll always make a good spare rig for guests.
