We got the new Magma "Newport" grill shortly we bought the boat, but I haven't installed until yesterday.
I decided to get the pedestal mount and install the base out of the way under the swim step lid.

Here's the underside of the swimstep. Mounted with some 5200

This only took about 20 Minutes~very easy installation

The pedestal disconnects from the Grill and the base. I'll stow the pedastal and the propane can in the transom locker and I made a plywood base
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o99/ToddOlason/GrillInstall7.jpg
for the grill to mount sit in. It's mounted to the platform the water tank is on.
The lower Black cup that's on the grill will go into the hole in the plywood.
Here's the grill stowed in the bilge.

Thanks Doug,
I'm very happy with it and it cooks really nice.

That looks great! We have the smaller Magma kettle and can cook four NYs, but that maxes us out...and only two t-bones. It looks like the Newport is easier to stow, too.

Very nice setup. Do you plan on mounting an inflatable on your stern?

Shannon,
We had the Kettle style on the old boat. I hung off the side while in use and kind of fit aside one of the sleeper seats, but I do like the way this one will stow.
Very nice setup. Do you plan on mounting an inflatable on your stern?
I'd like to find an inflatable that I can deflate, stuff in a box and also store in the engine bay.
We'll see.

You mean my buddy Crusty Rusty, of course I know and once worked with him. He recently switched brands and went to the end of the lake as we say it. However he is still a very dear friend of mine and always will be regardless of the boat he sells. :)

Todd--We have an 8' inflatable that is a generic zodiac. It's a nice rig with an inflatable keel, but with the solid transom engine mount board it is large, heavy, and very cumbersome. I mounted Weaver davits on the swimstep and it is very easy to lift the raft out of the water. With your your BBQ stand, if you had a setup like mine, it just takes a minute to drop the inflatable then you'll have use of your swimstep for the BBQ and transom door.

OK, we had a nice slab of Canadian caught salmon (I despise
farm raised)...
I used the recipe Todd posted in an earlier post (soy, wasabi, brown sugar and lime juice) on a cedar plank...
Anyway, the salmon was great, nice taste... Will have to bring a plastic bottle of the mix with us on the boat from now on...
Thanks Todd... (or was it really Mo's?)

I'll take credit on that one. She likes just butter and brown sugar the most.
Thanks for the compliments.
I agree; Farmed fish should be illegal.

Randy...how is your Baltik doing? We had no problems with ours and the buyers of CP were more than happy to have it included. Did you get the air floor or the wood floor (can't remember).
Todd...if you are looking for inexpensive rollup then the Baltik, Norkdik and there are others are all knock offs from Korea but when you look at them, Baltik for example, they actually have three air chambers which is nice as the zodiaks only have two. I bought mine from an ebay vendor and it was $650 shipped for an 8'6".

Thanks Sean,
I'll look into that and see what dimensions they are all deflated.
PS
Norkdik  I'm Scandivavian and I think my Gramma warned me about this. Is there a cream I need to use or will 5200 do?
sorry....

I own the 8'6" Baltik with the wood floor and think it is great. The blow up keel is a nice addition and I think would help in keeping on a steady course. Seems to be better than my old slatted floor roll up model that I never rolled up...
I just bought some stainless steel "U's" to install in the transom of the Baltik this AM and a couple of circle bolts for the bow area. Instead of using ready made davit slings to hook it all up, I decided on 1/4" stainless steel chain with ss style caribiners. I'm good for about 800#'s but the dink and engine will add up to just under 130#.
Still playing around with ideas on the install but pretty sure on how I will do it all.
I will receive the new ss davits sometime this week.

My Baltik is 8'. Since my stern is 8' wide, it is a perfect fit. I really like my Baltik inflatable. After a trip in salt water, I wash and let it dry for a day. I store it deflated in its cover. I use 303 Protectant at least once yearly and it still looks like new. It has an inflatable floor and keel. It works well for the Admiral, mutts and I me. The 3.5 hp 2 cycle Nissan is light and a perfect fit.

Randy and Doug,
That does look like the set-up we'll need.
That's the problem with getting one project done it spawns another. I hate to see what I need after I get the charger installed. :argh2

Here is the link of the photos: http://www.garhauer.co.nz/productdavit.htm
and here is where they are made: http://garhauermarine.com/ (http://garhauermarine.com/)
Look for "lifting Davit" in the on line catalog. I went with the longer arm... 6-2 which is 34", not 26"... (and not listed in the on line catalog...
They will customize them for you. Mark is the builder and when I spoke to him and explained what I intended to do, he said he would weld a couple of hooks at or near the end of the davits and after I get them installed, to measure the distance between and he'd cut a connecting brace and send that to me so the davits swing together...

With the two swinging simultaneously make sure the connecting rod can pivot parallel to the mounting location, otherwise she won't move

hence the addition of hooks so I can pivot them together.
I did think of just installing one davit at the center of the transom, then when going on cruise and planing, swing the dink to the open cockpit area directly behind the drivers seats and when going to dock, swing it out to the stern above the swim step... BUT, the admiral doesn't think that would work well... I still may try it temporarily if only to convince the admiral it is possible... It would certainly swing the center of gravity more forward... then possibly use less tab which means less gas usage too...
Still thinking...

I'm still hesitant to guess what the moment load will be on those. You don't think those will load the stern down?

~ 130 pounds of weight? 6.2, 330 hp... nah.... I can get 4 cadets sitting in the back seat and in the jump seats (about 600 #'s) and it was no prob...

Todd, great install. Good Idea with the swim ladder hatch. Our ladder folds up under the swim platform. Looks like you could use it also as a nice beverage/snack table when the Q is not installed.

Yeah I definitely need an "accessory table". I tilted up the transom locker door, but I'll eventually have graphics there and don't want to spill/scratch on that and it wasn't level.
I'm going to make a mahagony table I'll install there somehow,

Good idea, 1, it floats if it gets knocked off and 2, you won't have room for guests if you keep this adding stuff to your boat up...:argh2:argh2
