Sitting here with the ice pack on the knee. Dr said that he got all the scar tissue that was causing the problem. Feels a little sore. but the pain meds are good
I'll be watching daytime TV for about a week. JERRY! JERRY!
Leave it to Beaver was on this afternoon. I haven't seen that in years!

Well, listen to the doc... enjoy your time off the leg and get well soon so we can do some boating and share some adventures...

I've had a couple of ACL's replaced. The first time on my left knee I used a piece of my own patellar ligament(OUCH!). The second time on the right knee I used somebody else's and I gave the doctor some suggestions for the cadaver implants. Unfortunately those folks were still alive!

I hated the pain medication and quit taking it after the first dose after the operation wore off. It was like an out of the body experience only not fun. I pitched a whole bunch of oxycontin or whatever it was down the drain. Enjoy the time off, keep it elevated and I'm sure they'll have you into to see the PT (Pain and Torture) guys for rehab very soon. Good luck and I hope everything works out the way it's supposed to!

I and E--ice and elevation. Interesting about your experience with the strong narcotic analgesic. When the Admiral came home from the hospital last mo, one of her docs wrote a prescription for enough Percocet (hydrocodone) to keep a horse high for a month. She took the stuff for one day and said to hell with it. She didn't like the way she felt and quit taking it. She started on ibuprofen and it's worked well.

I totally agree and guaranty that I would make a lousy drug addict. Had 4 impacted wisdom teeth pulled a while back. The Doc gave me something wild. I took them the day of the surgery and sure enough no pain, heck I can't remember when I felt so comfortable, but what a terrible feeling of disconnect and lack of control. I tossed them on day 2 and made out just fine with some Advil.

After our last daughter was born via c-section, I was released the day after surgery because she had been transferred to St. Joseph's in Tacoma. I was given a torradol iv boost before they pulled the iv and being in a moving car and in the real world on strong narcotics was the weirdest experience, it totally felt out of body. I did take a few pain pills during the next week but not even a 1/4 of what was prescribed.

I've never had knee surgery but I hope you feel 100% ASAP. Being stuck down is not any fun. I'm glad the surgery went well.

Yeah it's me and the four legged furry cats on the couch. They are diggin' daddy-o being around!
I took the Percocet yesterday, but unless it starts feeling worse today I'll hold off on them. They just make me sleep. RICE for me... Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation...
To bad there isn't a boating network on cable.. ;)

I use to watch "Ship Shape" every Sunday on Directv... not sure if it is still on or if it is a seasonal show... Up in the 600's for channel numbers...

They had a few really nest projects building additions to boats, fiberglass and painting and general maintenance issues...

I remember that show. A scan on the guide came up negative.
However... Rockford Files is on @ 3:00 on 117!!!

Oh quit your whining, I just had my knee reworked and I was up and running again in 2 days.

So what did you have done and who did it?

Yeah okay there superman...LOL
I had a big chunk of scar tissue removed and a drain put in to keep fluid from building up. I'm in a brace and can't bend it for at least another couple of days. After I think I'm okay to resume activity. No running in marathons or anything, but at least I can get around.

Glad to hear that your surgery went well. Too bad you couldn't sell your meds on the streets to help pay for upcoming fuel bills:argh2

Anyway, Look forward to watching your peg leg waddle down a dock.

I can't sell my meds? Now you tell me.... :argh
Yeah the last gas I bought a couple of weeks ago was $4.06 a gallon. I saw that congress had some oil company execs before them for questions this week. Looked like a kangaroo court to me. It's like the mice guarding the cheese...
I go back to work tomorrow. The swelling has gone down and I get the stitches out on Friday.
What sux is I have a number of things to do on the boat that reqiures me to kneel, and I can't for a while.
Oh well, I'll get to them in a few weeks.
Thanks for the kind words Todd. I'll be back at the helm in no time.

I had 4 pins put in my shoulder to keep it together in Feburary. The Doc had me taking 2 Percocet every 3 hours for pain, 16 pills a day for two weeks. You do the math over 200 pills in 14 days. I decided to quit to see if I had any pain in my shoulder at all. No pain but one heck of an addiction, took over three weeks to kick but I did and got rid of all the leftover Percocet's. I will never touch those things again.

LD--That is an incredible amount of narcotic the doc prescribed for you. Pain relief is necessary and it's been proven that reducing pain benefits the healing process, but floating on Percocet for several weeks could lead to complications. Hope your shoulder is healing well.

Once the fog cleared and I could see again, I threw away the Percocet's and the shoulder is doing good. Thanks.
