For some time I noticed that the pumping out and water in of the head didn't go very smooth. As I stated before I are far from a DIY guy. But reading here often it was only to loosen 6 screwes and some firm skirts of Teflon grease and all would be well again was reason for me to buy the grease and do it my self.

This is what happened: The six screws came loose and so did the unit out fell a strange black plasic thingky also some water pourred out. Cleaned that put the grease in the tube with my fingers. But than the big question was where the h..l did that plasic came from. Ok another hour later I found out that it came from under the rubber sealing and not above. Ok put every thing back in place tightened the six screws and with some thrill of exitement I tiried the handle and it worked very smooth! But it didnt put in any water at all in the bowl and at both ways it put out the water I pourred into the bowl.. So untighten the six screws looked at the plastic part but for normal sense it only could fit there. Put all together again but no way the water could be pulled into the bowl. As I started at 5 pm and it was 6.30 I saw to my surprise that the chief mecganic was still walking around. He said untighten again and I will come So he did. Result the plastic was right but the rubber sealing was rotten! He got a new package with the rubber sealing put every thing to gether and at 7.00 pm It was working. I cleaned up the toilet floor, saw that my suits trouser had some nice Teflon grease stains so back it goes to the Dry cleaning from where it came just a couple of days ago. This morning I took two Aleve pills because of upcoming back pain and today I will support some euro's for tip, pay the bill and promised my self never, never try to do any thing my self again!
I am not born for it! :w

Wrong conclusion R. What you should get out of this is that you now know how to repair a head and if it needs it again you can do it in half the time..by yourself. I would also suggest that you not wear a suit to work on a broken head...try a coverall or pair of jeans that can go in the washer....and never wear a necktie when working on the engine.

I usually have very similar experiences of too much time spent on a project, re-doing things to get it right etc.....but I value this as part of learning and for me enjoying my hobby of boating.

Roel, for some reason unknown to mankind, most of us men start to get into a project only to be told later on by the Admiral: "Why didn't you change out of your nice clothes BEFORE you started working on that?"

Happens every time... well almost...

BTW, its OK by the Admiral to have you take the compactor trash out while still wearing good clothes... go figure????

Roel, you did great for not knowing what you were doing ! Next time will be easy, you may even be able to help another boater with a similar problem. As to the dirty pants, that's ben a " boy" problem since pants were invented. Gene

keep a spare kit in your repair bag on board...you never know when one of the o-rings or seals will go and you'll have it right there.... :argh arr

Al,

Sorry but I had to get back to you but you guys post so quick that I can hardly follow up! :D

Every thing is fine overhere, was bussy at the business had a lot of social events to organize and attend. Haven't met Frans lately but I saw his boat in the water.
His Marina is when you continued the small road to our Marina and at the spot they are bussy building a bridge and it's not easy to park there right now. Recently we met with Jarno and Olga on the water and had a very nice afternoon together. I think one of these days when the weather is getting better we Frans and I will meet on the water also. Sorry to read that you posponed your trip to the guys in the PACNW but I think Seappuppy had some very good reasons, but when you meet them the next time you will find a far more trianed and educated doggy. :D Maybe they even learned him some nice tricks! Just returned sunday from a really nice trip and we took the cat with us ans she really loved it, although I think! At the moment we are behind of schedule to go out with friends aqs almost every year. Weather is too unpredictable up to know.
