Ok, for all of you Blake Island experts I have a request.

The new owner of Nehalennia II contacted me asksing the following:

"We are heading to Blake Island with some friend and a question came up that I can’t find an answer to on-line and I thought you may know the answer. At state parks the moorage buoys are first come first server and everything on-line says you can’t use a dingy to reserve a buoy. Do you know if you pay for a dingy to be moored if that is ok. I have been trying to get a hold of WA Park and Rec but have had no luck."

I didn't have an answer for him since I haven't used them but I know you can guys/gals can explain and I've sent the link to this thread to him and have encouraged him to join the site.

They're a great family we hope to rendezvous with soon. It'd be weird mooring next to our old love.

Not OK.

They're trying to keep people from parking a dinghy on a buoy for a friend, or while they're away with plans of coming back.

I believe first on wins. It keeps people from hogging up the buoys on busy weekends.

I suspect it'll be a bigger problem as more people start mooring. :)

Yeah I would be rather ****tified if I showed up and there were a bunch of dinks tied up "reserving" bouys for potential no shows.

yeah I think the idea was to throw a dink on while the buddy shows up, but like you said that can easily turn into a no show

I am not sure about Blake Island but in the state parks it is first come first served and you are not allowed to save your buoy with a dink. But that is not always the case and it has been the cause of some heated discussions.

Makes sense.

Yeah... it's only fair. How ****ed would you be to show up only to see someone holding a buoy for a buddy?

Last time I was at Blake I enjoyed the linear moorage.

You can always raft up with buddies, too. I can see the disadvantage if you were staying overnight at Blake but wanted to check out Bremerton or Port Orchard. Too bad you can't save the buoy with the dink and go exploring. That would get confusing though, understandably.

How many boats are OK to be rafted on one buoy? I don't think they would want too many on one buoy.

It all depends on the length of the boats.
