Ok, I bought the Standard Horizon GX1500 and installed it today. I also programmed in my MMSI.

I'm too hot to program in the rest of yours now, but I'm going to go dump in in Marysille and hang out on the slough for a few hours.

Mo and the twins are going to the Parade for Strawberry festival.

So we'll have to test out our MMSI's soon and make sure I hooked it up correctly.

I've got your MMSI plugged in to my lower VHF and I'll be up at the boat tomorrow. But I don't think that I can hail you from up in La Conner. I can try though. Call me on my cell if you want to try tomorrow.

Yeah gimme a call. I'll be on the boat at Dagmars, but I can likely get a signal to Marysville. I'd like to hear how you like the radio. I need to get rid of the old JRC VHF and am thinking that Standard Horizon is the one myself.

I have the Uniden 525 and am very happy with it. A few dollars more but, the display is very large and it has the 25W hailer built in as well as a variety of fog horns. Menu is very intuative and the sound is very good. If your considering a new radio, I would not hesitate to recommend it:

That's a nice radio. Todd and I were just talking about this last evening and I know I'll be looking for a Class D DSC capable radio. The idea of pitching positions back and forth will be pretty cool.

It's hard to tell where Todd will pop up next. I'd bet he burns as much fuel as Doug. :)

Just to be fair, Standard Horizon does have a radio in the same class:

I kind of like the WM VHF650 class D DSC... nice radio for $139...

I know my raymarine 53 VHF/DSC does not have that slick capability.

Im really happy to have it. We didn't go out today. I should have but took the twins Golfing, giving Mighty Mo a bit of a break and me indigestion.

I bought the Standard Horizon at BOEmarine.com for $139 (http://www.byownerelectronics.com/store/product.php?productid=32511&cat=0&page=1)

I got the black one to match the dash + I bought the RAM+ remote Speaker mic.
http://standardhorizon.com/AccessoryImages/CMP25%20blk.jpg
I haven't installed that yet, but while running that MIC I can hold up to my ear and listen. I thought about a remote speaker instead but holding the Mic to me ear may be nicer. It may be a little overkill having two mics near the dash, but it's better than cranking the host speaker.

I really like the display and the instructions are good. I've had great luck with the Standard Horizon products.

I have that exact setup (in white) on my Trophy- the fixed mount is in the cabin, and the RAM is mounted on the rear of the pilothouse. It's nice being about to listen and talk without jumping into the cabin.

Lemme know if you're gonna be tinkering on the boat today Todd. I'll be down for a few hours after work today finishing up my cable. I could dial ya up and see what happens.

I got everything installed for the heavy amp cabling going up the starboard side now and just need to seal and then heat shrink the cabling. I've got 2/0 (180A) service and now just need to do the switch and contacter

I'm not sure it's allowed for me to try and hail you from the yard in Lake Stevens. I tried calling from the middle of Lake Stevens once and they don't even allow that. I didn't plan on running her down the teh water tonight, but if I do I'll ringy dingy on the new thingy.

Of course that radio looks great too. Will have to compare the two and figure out which one to go for...

This will be my 3rd Standard Horizon and I've always had great luck with them. Jim's pricing at BOE is really competetive and he ships it quick.

If you know the guy, perhaps we could trade him some banner space for a club discount? I don't really care who I purchase from if buying online, but it would be cool if we could find someone with decent service that we could affiliate with as a club.

I just know him through clubsearay.com. He owns http://www.boemarine.com/ which clubsearay.com/forum is part of.

He seems like a really nice guy. Do you want to e-mail him, or would you like me to?

I'm not on Club Sea Ray, but if you wanted to approach him, that would be a cool idea.

We have banner space from our home page (not the forum) that I've thought of offering up for consideration for members.

That'd be good. I suspect he's on a tight margin with those, but a percentage by coupon would be nice.

Hell... I might buy my DSC VHF there.
