Well, I got to thinking how the fishing poles take up the shelf space on the Admirals side of the bunk making it unusable for her. So I cut two 2" holes angled toward the stbd hull so that I could hang fishing rods, thus freeing up shelf space...
I used perko rubber rod holder inserts that fit perfectly in the bored out holes and cover the rat fur edges with the lip of the insert. I cut through the brace that crosses under the bottom section of the window. That brace is 1.5" thick and coated with a layer of fiberglass. I'm not sure I need to reglass the holes since they are inside and no access to the outside... Opinions?

Next project will have to wait till next week. Making the forward berth longer...

Nice setup, but Diane's not a seafood person and the stinky reels would likely get me in trouble. :)

That's a good use of the space though. I don't see how fiberglassing that would buy you anything but extra effort.

Look's good Doug.

So where do you keep your reels and poles?

I have an 8 rod holder mounted just behind the helm seat. I suspect she wouldn't be too keen on sleeping that close to 'em.

Seal it with 5200 and call it good. Great use of space, BTW.

I'd use the 4200 but same idea.
