I heard about this product on the radio this morning and I thought I'd volley it out there for those of you without a Microwave aboard and think a portable one will work for you.

Runs off of 12VDC cigarette lighter at 175W(may be as powerful as an "Easy Bake oven") to 650W clipped onto the Battery directry.

Cindy been eyeing that space for storage.
Not sure how to finish it yet.

Hmmm... 175W huh?
Power is the rate of time you are using energy. How much power to a boil a cup of water in 10 minutes?
1 cup of water weighs: 236 grams
It takes 2257 joules to vaporize each of those 236 gram of water: 532,652 joules total.
A Watt is a joule per second. So...
You need 2257(236)/600 = 887.75W to boil a cup of water in 10 minutes.
If I did the math right and you only have 175W, it's gonna take you just over 50 minutes to boil a cup of water (t=E/P).
t = (2257*236)/175
Been awhile on the thermodynamics... but I think it'll cool almost that fast. http://www.baylinerownersclub.org/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif
I'll stick to my little 900W and the inverter.

Yeah, a kilowatt microwave oven is considered pretty minimal these days! I couldn't imagine waiting for things to heat up in that 'easy bake'.

Yeah I found that funny, but had to post it.
The new Fangled Easy Bake Oven.
I think you're right Mike, for the 50 mins and rapid rate the water would cool, you'd be better off heating it between your thighs than watch your batteries drain.

I have a 1000W on our boat and with the inverter it does a reasonable job.
Tough to think 175W would be worth much in a microwave. :)
I wonder how big it is?
