Is there anyplace on the website where it talks about how IBNW began, what it's all about, etc etc??? Journalizing if you will. If I've just missed it ok but on the other hand it may be something to add for those just lurking on, perusing through or thinking about joining.
Wouldn't have to be long, just a couple paragraphs... starting with
IBoatNorthWest... Where Good Boats... Good Friends.... and Good Times Come Together!

The first time or the second time?
Actually we banded together as an offshoot from BOC... The orginal flounders, for the most part, are still here. Some still visit but as guests and don't post... don't ask...
I don't recall the exact year but it was a long time ago... 1996/97 is about the timeframe... That was about the time forums started to evolve and require user names and passwords to get in and post... that is a long time ago... our original forum was: www.ibnw.com (http://www.ibnw.com) and that one died a long time ago. I think it is for sale...
This new forum was started by Somesailor in May 2002...

Some of that's correct. (IBoatNW.org was the original domain... 2002 is probably the right year)
I'll sit down one of these days and capture the chain of events.
Once upon a time....
Tally (Wickus), Puget Mike (Mike Kelley), Pura Vida (Stuart Thornton), Washrack Harry / Chef Harry (Harry Duncan), Hey Magic (Gene McCollough), DMCB (Doug McBurney) got tired of the BS over at BOC and started a new EZBored forum sometime back in 2002 or so?
Then a short time later they had a frickus among themselves that left the website without anyone in charge or running the place. Mike Kelley had enough and pulled the plug and tossed the keys to me.
I purchased the domain IBoatNW.com and IBoatNorthWest.com and the software that we're using now and it's annual licenses. We're hosted by a company down in California called Lunar Pages and have been since sometime in 2002.
Tally is still here (Wickus), Puget Mike lurks through every once in awhile, and Stuart (Pura Vida)and Doug (DMCB) have posted in the last few months, but Gene (HeyMagic) and Harry (Chef Harry) have moved on. I did see Harry at Dagmars a few weeks back, but he's not been on here in some time.
Not a real exciting history... but we've been around for some time now. 6 or 7 years now?

Mike--Thanks for the info. And, I might add that you've done a good job maintaining the civility on this board and prevented spam from infiltrating the threads.
Here at IBoatNW, we no longer have petty bickering, arguing, and bad-mouthing. Save all that nonsense for the yacht clubs!!!!!! I'm glad we've got several active Admirals on the board. Women bring a different perspective to important issues--how much beer to take, no more peeing in a bucket, requiring clean clothes everyday, no herring stored in the refer, chick music, not staying at marinas where the restrooms are cleaned once weekly, washing dirty dishes (rather than wiping them off with a wet paper towel), magazine racks are filled with Living Home, Decorating When Unnecessary, & Ladies Home Journal rather than NW Yachting, Bass Pro Shop catalogs, Playboy, & Sea Magazine.

Mike,
Doug,
Great story thanks for sharing... I was curious more about the “when” and in our case for answering landlocked friends and family when they ask “Huh, IBoatNorthWest, what’s that?” - it'll be nice to know what/how to answer. Sorry didn’t mean to rehash "the junk”.
It's too bad there had to be a debacle in the grand scheme of it all but certainly glad it has turned out the way it has as I’m sure most will agree. Anyway that's all past and best for it to stay there - hopefully fences have been mended.
IBoatNorthWest today “is what it is” and it’s the better for those changes today. We’re glad the “keys were tossed” to such a congenial and positive intermediary. Thanks for keeping an optimistic outlook on things, keeping us all pointed in the right direction and like the other comments, keeping civility within these pages…
