I was poking around trying to find some pictures on the Internet of my old Carver... and found this:

(That's Bob Drivin'...)

http://www.iboatnw.com/gallery/data/media/21/1967_Carver_Ranger_1940_Brochure.jpg

I had called Carver Yachts Inc. at one time, hoping to find a Owners Group or something... but the gal was pretty disappointing. She did pass me to their market guy who said they would be eventually putting all their old brochures and sales ads online.

So... if you've got an old Carver boat... you can find ALL their manuals (all the way back to 1953) here now:

Still pretty cool you found this - Man I don't know what we did with out the internet to find stuff!

OK... I'd like full coverage insurance on it and no deductable...

Can Allstate do that?

(just kidding... won't get the title until October 24th)

I remember that you told me that it may not have ever been titled, is that the reason it will take that long?
Just out of courisoty- what value did Louise let you have for the reg. cost?

Ken;

I've had it registered for a couple of years now. It was valued as "consideration of 1 (one) bottle of Maker's Mark Whisky $50.

I waited a few months before applying for the lost title, and won't be able to pick that up until October 24th. :)

Steve;

Ted's not a fisherman... but that may be him sitting there on the left. :)

Gotta love the ad: "Front AND rear upholstered seats." Reminds me of the ads where luxury cars were advertised with FM/AM radios!

Question - why would "vented windshields" be a feature on this particular boats?

06-08-2005, 09:31 AM
The windows "tilt out" in their frames so you get airflow through them. You don't see that much anymore :)

Dual wipers no less too... My 2355 only had one. 8)

That's what's funny SS (or is it just my simple mind :oops: ). Why would you need (additional) airflow on this particular model? :lol:

In the terrible summers we have here... you can use all the ventilation you could get.

Or maybe... it was to ventilate the fumes from all the stinky fisherman eating sardines and drinking beer and smoking all day...

I've picked up some pretty cool stuff off e-bay related to our Tolly. My favorite is a dealer brochure for the entire line for 1969 models. I've also picked up several neat old magazine ads.

My '67 Chris has opening windshields also, must have been an "item" back then. We did join the Carver owners club website...$35.00 to join , BEFORE you can see the forums. Not as active or useful as IBNW, although I did get a T shirt 8)

My Dad's 1988 Shamrock has tilt out windscreen also... Very nice when you have the canvas top up and want some breeze...

WOW... Thanks!

I've downloaded his images for my library. Not really a lot out there about these boats. I still can't decide if mine is a Ranger or a Camper. Looking at the Camper as mine has a camper top just like the older 1963 models.

I also don't have all the sink and stuff that the Camper shows in 1967. Weird.

I sent the guy an email. Thanks again.

No t-shirt yet Mike. I have been checking the mailbox evereyday though... :lol: .

There is a local group called the Carver Cruisers who get together from time to time. They do the Carver meet at Port Orchard . I'll bet your boat would be a hit with them. We went years ago with the 32 and a guy won a prize for the oldest Carver attending, it seems like it was about a "70 model.

That's kind of the problem I have now. The old boat is in just too good of shape to be thrown out. Motor runs, fishfinder works. Everything is there down to the last little screw.

But, when you talk to Carver about it... most act like they never heard of wooden ones, let alone one that sold for $1,195.00 and if you start talking to the wooden boat guys, they either high-brow ya because it HAS a motor, or wrinkle their brow because it's not a sleek inboard racer. :?

Oh well... I would like to get my hands on some original manuals though. I'd REALLY like to find another one somewhere I could take some pictures of. I discovered the hull was copper just the other day. I'm stripping off all the paint and recaulking the keelboard and some screws. It was originally a cream-white color, with a copper colored bottom. I wonder if you can still buy copper bottom coat?

The link I posted was found by searching "Carver Boats" on e-bay. I have an ongoing search for Tolly stuff, and have been surprised what has been there sometimes.

I'll have to keep an eye on that. I used to have this "agent" program, that you could program to search for you. It would use the words you gave it, and go out every so often and check for any new listings. I may have to dig it out :)
