My second appointment (and our second volunteer) fills our FLEET CAPTAIN position.

Todd (Nehallenia) has accepted the nomination for appointment to I Boat NorthWest's 2009 Fleet Captain position. Our Board of Directors has agreed he is a perfect candidate for this job.

This is a very important (and challenging) position that I'm sure Todd will do a wonderful job of coordinating our outings and rendezvouses. We will need to support him fully to make him successful in this so please keep that in mind as we go forward.

Some of the duties of the Fleet Caption are:

Coordinate and Maintain the Cruise Calendar
Solicit and assist Cruise Captains
Liaison with Marinas and cruise destinations in Club matters
Foster a cruise attitude that is safe, fun and family oriented
Prepare as appropriate, and working parties, or groups he may need in support of cruises and get-togethers, etc

It's a VERY challenging job, but I can't think of a better candidate. We will support you and look forward to your input Todd. Thanks again!

Also... There are a couple of folks who have served in this role in other YCs. I'm sure they can help with suggestions to make this successful for you.

AND support the cash for me the admiral and some buddies to come over and join the cruises! And I am not kidding! And as some think Stella Artois and Jupiler are premium beers I fear the most what you will drink so I will stick to wine!

That would be fun Roel. We've talked before about a "Where Roel?" - Relay Cruise before.

It would be fun to ferry you around to some of our better cruising grounds. If each member adopted you for a leg of the journey, you could get a pretty cool cruise in and see all the sites we have. It would be great fun.

Lots of young people dream about working at sea and especially on cruise ships (cruise liners), but few can imagine what cruise jobs are really like. The reality is that candidates for cruise ship employment have to realize that they are applying for a job, not a holiday!
If they are accepted at their interview with a representative of a particular cruise line they cannot choose the cruise ship or the trading area but must strictly comply with the requirements of the Cruise Line which hired them. New crew members on a cruise ship have to undergo some degree of training after joining the ship, and must accept discipline and various restrictions (e.g. not to enter the passenger area when not on duty). Their supervisors will expect them to work hard with a permanent smile on their face. On the other hand, cruise ship work gives young people a good income and the chance to visit a variety of beautiful and exotic places.

I really didn't know what to think. The post on the batteries seemed way off base and then the other goof ball posts?????

I was wondering how it would all turn out. Now I know.

He actually PM'd me and asked how long it would be before he could post links or pictures. Saw where that was going and kept his post count down below the minimum 5. Besides... he was coming in from Pakistan. Not a lot of Northwesterners there. :)

I figured I'd have to put a cap in him eventually... :)

Always good to let them hang themselves... He had good English... unless it was a cut and paste which I would have assumed...

If we kept him, Maybe we would have gotten some good deals on camel jerky or something? ;)

Just provide your CC...

Yeah... his PM was as plain as yours or mine. His IP was the first clue. :)

All of his posts seemed like something out of a dictionary or from Wikipedia. Didn't sound like any of his posts were discussions just definitions.
My, we do get some interesting members here.
