Nominations for Club Treasurer / Secretary

I'm soliciting nominations for Club Treasurer of the I Boat NorthWest Yacht Club / Cruising Club (name to be determined).

Specific duties to outlined separately.

Please nominate ONLY via email (nominate@iboatnw.com), any member(s) you feel would be a good leader and facilitator to help guide this Club along its path.

You can volunteer to place yourself in the nomination list as well.

Appointment will be held at a future date.

Use this thread ONLY to discuss the requisite skills / aptitude and expectations of THIS position please. All other side conversation will be prune if necessary.

I'd like to get someone appointed in and the past the nod of our Board of Directors to get us started.

Once we start collecting membership, I want that to be open and transparent to the general membership.

Obviously the Secretary / Treasurer, would preclude a person from holding any other office for the year, but those not selected could easily transfer to that list if interested.

Your name got nominated with a couple of others, but I've since gotten a volunteer on that list as well, so it'll run past the Board, and we should have a 2009 Secretary/Treasurer shortly.

I'm wanting a 3rd party to do this so my ownership of the website and my other business aspects don't get co-mingled with the Clubs resources. There isn't any huge problem, but I don't want the appearance of a conflict of interest to be perceived down the road.

I'd like to announce that Ken Sampson (3788Sam) has accepted my appointment as our 2009 Club Secretary / Treasurer. The Board of Directors has approved and he will be the point of contact for all Club financials and membership information.

I'll coordinate with Ken over the next few days to get a membership application available to anyone interested and a payment system to pay online for sake of convenience.

Membership will be :

New Members:

$75 for 1st year, $50 thereafter.

This will include membership for one year, a Club Burgee, Membership Card and Name Tags for your Boat and Crew.

Covers all Club related expenses and privileges, including rendezvous subsidies, group activities and voting privileges (2 per membership if married or significant other), and access to Club related portions and features of the I Boat North West website dedicated solely to Club membership.

Ongoing Membership Dues:

$50 a year.

If you already have a IBNW Burgee, please select this option. This will include membership for one year but will not require a new Club Burgee. You will get a Membership Card and Name Tags for your Boat and Crew.

Covers all Club related expenses and privileges, including rendezvous subsidies, group activities and voting privileges (2 per membership if married or significant other), and access to Club related portions and features of the I Boat North West website dedicated solely to Club membership.

Active Duty Military, Law Enforcement, Fire Fighter Membership Dues:

$50 for 1st year, $25 a year thereafter.

This tier was my idea. I'd like to make the club accessible and affordable for this group of boaters in recognition of what they do for us all. It does not include retirees and I think shows our support of these guys and gals.

This will include membership for one year but will not require a new Club Burgee. You will get a Membership Card and Name Tags for your Boat and Crew.

Covers all Club related expenses and privileges, including rendezvous subsidies, group activities and voting privileges (2 per membership if married or significant other), and access to Club related portions and features of the I Boat North West website dedicated solely to Club membership.

Associate Membership Dues:

$5 a year

If you are geographically unable to materially participate ttend already have a IBNW Burgee, please select this option. This will include membership for one year but will not require a new Club Burgee. You will get a Membership Card and Name Tags for your Boat and Crew.

This will include membership for one year but will not include a Club Burgee. They can be purchased, but are not required. You will get a Membership Card and Name Tags for your Boat and Crew if you wish , and access to Club related portions and features of the I Boat North West website dedicated solely to Club membership.

Membership will have privileges. As membership grows, we will be able to offer activities and things similar to most other Yacht Clubs you may be familiar with.

For the time being we will not be pursuing reciprocal agreements, but as our Treasurer builds our membership coffers we can certainly make use of funds for whatever the membership proposes. It should be fun.
