You can select "Home" directly above "Photo Gallery" and look for it there. That is how I found it...

You sure you got to the right "Home"? I selected the main I Boat North West (top left) then saw "Home" and once selected, saw the application. So did Lea, in fact she thought she needed to fill in the application to be able to see the Admiral's corner which is no longer available to her to see. (We PM'd Mike about that).

I'm starting this thread to talk about any questions that people might be having about the application and membership process.
Here's the link to the application:

I took some time this weekend and coded up an online Application Form that can be used to join the new I BOAT NORTHWEST YACHT CLUB.
I'd encourage anyone interested in supporting the Club to join up and offer your suggestions.
IBNWYC MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION (http://www.iboatnw.com/forum//newthread.php?do=membership)
Your membership will go to support this site and activities throughout the year.

I'd say for now: Ken Sampson / IBOATNW
He can deposit them that way. I'll let Ken figure out how he wants to hold the funds. I can transfer those captured through my merchant account electronically once we figure that out.

Mike,
We were going to fill out our application to send online but it doesn't look like you have a secure online payment link (https://) yet. If you would be so kind as to send us a postal address (PM it or our email) we will send the application and our membership fee that way.
Thanks,
Garry and Loraine :):)

Yes. It IS a secure 256bit SSL certificate (I pay $150/year for it).
You simply Add Items to cart, then proceed to Checkout. It then enables a SSL layer and you enter your credit card data.
The application isn't asking for anything beyond a name and address and phone number, MMSI, email, etc.

Oh, ok... We didn't get much further than the app when we noticed the page address link only has http and not https. Guess we just needed to get even further into it before that appears.
We've already gone through one identity theft situation some years back and hope to never do that again so we were just making sure.
Grazie!

Yeah. It's a pretty extensive thing to have a merchant account online. I pay $150 or so a year for the SSL cert, $45 a year to have it stored on a secure server, anther $35/mo for the merchant account (Authorize.net), $15/mo for a gateway account, and then .25/per transaction and like 2% for each up to my discount level. :D
It's pretty pricey... but secure.

Hey Mike,
It wouldnt take my card either. It was also charging me $1.60 for "free shipping" for a membership minus burgee. Don't know what's up. What is the address to send a check to?
SomeSailor
10-20-2008, 07:24 PM
I've fixed the "free" shipping part. :)
But I still don't know why it's not liking your local credit cards. I'll have to play around with that a bit.
In the meantime, you can use the link below. Chose whichever situation fits yours best (Burgee / No Burgee) and clicking the appropriate button will transfer you to a secure website for the rest of the transaction.
ALTERNATE PAYMENT LINKS (http://www.iboatnw.com/images/Alternate%20IBNW%20Payment%20Gateway.htm)
They are both secure SSL links (256 bit), but bypass my ecommerce software which I suspect is causing problems for some of you. It's just less pretty. :)

Sorry Brad;
I don't do Paypal. I had a run-in with eBay and PayPal (same company) a few years back regarding their fee structure and vowed I would give either one of them another of my nickels. :)
I'm getting a post office box setup for the Club in the next few days. You can mail a check if that would be better for you.

I have used google shopping cart this year for the first time. It is a FREE service the rest of this year. Very very easy to set up and run all credit cards, etc. And yes, it is secure...

A couple of problems with them (and Paypal)
Your merchant account will prohibit you from having any others while in contract with them (conflict of interest), and they don't play well with eCommerce.
You can generally do one or the other, but you can't mix them. You can get blacklisted if you're not careful.
It's a lot tougher than I imagined getting the ability to accept credit through an online application. They watch them VERY closely.

Yep. I just have the security settings set pretty tight on my merchant account. You need to be sure you enter your name, billing address, phone number and such, exactly as on your billing statement.
It "scores" the risk based on the information the card companies store in your card against what you input.
It works fine.

Must be something on your end. I just did it myself and sent a test application over. I got the email, application showed up and both Ken and I got PM'd.
Try not using any odd characters in the form. It's worked just fine for everyone else so far, so there must be something unusual you're typing in one of the fields (or you left some blank?)

Other than that, it might be a pop-up blocker or something. I tried it from work and it went through fine. I just did it again on this laptop. Worked fine here too.
I forwarded the automated email it generated to my address. Everything worked as planned.

That was the payment verification system Ted. It has nothing to do with this form. The application form has worked fine even for you. You can send the payment to the PO Box if you like, or try the new form now. It just worked for Todd.
