No I'm not nominating myself. I don't know the history of IBNW well enough. I'm just wondering if the position of Historian might be better titled Club Journalist. Historian conjurs an image of librarian to me. Nothing against librarians, libraries & etc but to me a Historian is someone similar to a Librarian. Also a Historian is someone that documents past history not the present but whatever works with the club.

If the intention is to have someone journalize club events, to match photo's in a chronological order then write about the activity then Club Journalist would be better I would think.

Another point and they're just suggestions but the happenings at these activities could be written by the person heading that particular function couldn't it? Then those reports would be submitted as “activity reports” (duh..) and at that point the information is also passed on to the Historian or Club Journalist. They archive those copies to be passed on to the next officer in charge of that position, as well as also submitting to the newsletter editor for publication. The reports are also passed on to the treasurer since they would include receipt amounts for submission to the budget and gathered for foreseeable expenditures for the following year.

There are lots of ways it could be done, but I'm looking for someone to volunteer to fill the position of Club Historian.

It's a common appointment in other Clubs and the intention is to capture the history and exploits of the Club. Mostly for those that come along later.

You yourself asked what the history was once. I will help whomever volunteers get started, but it isn't an editorial journalist position. Just a keeper of the past.
