We are also members of the Navy Yacht Club and they provide Name Tags for all their members. They're corny, but are nice for new members who don't recognize everyone.

Anyhow... I've started making them up and as we get people signing up I'll get them shipped. They're dye sub'd onto FR plastic and I'm using magnetic fines on the backs so no one has to poke holes in their clothes. I include your "IBNW Moniker", Name, Boat Name and your Member #.

Doug;

Yours are on the way with your mug. Lemme know what you think.

They look great!
You were kind enough to give Lorie and I a couple of mugs last year and we use them on the boat all the time!
So if you haven't already made them please use them for someone else!
Thanks Mike!

On the way man... on the way... :)

If everyone thinks they look OK... I'll make the rest.

Those ARE yours. :)

Those are the actual nametags. I scanned the and that's the final image.

As corny as they seem, they'll be fun for those who don't know everyone by sight. Anyhow... I'll have everyone else's done soon.

Mike, thanks. Hope you included an invoice. If not, I'll forward what I think it should cost...

I'll be forwarding the mug to sis ASAP. My sis has taken a turn for the worse, the second Chemo has had no effect. We are looking at a time line now. At least this will cheer her up a bit... something she'd expect from her brother... thanks again... you're awesome Mike...

They're not corny at all ... and look very nice Mike. Are they actually as blue as your scan shows? :) I know what magnetic badges are and would like to add, it was nice of you to think about the pinholes - what are "fines" though? ('magnetic fines on the backs')

I don't know if you saw my application, but can I get an extra one for Lynne as well as Julie? I will be glad to reimburse you for it. Thank you.

Doug,

Very sorry to hear about your sister. I thought no news might be good news but it doesn't sound like that is the case.

My best wishes to your sister, you and your family.

I am sorry to hear that Doug. We are experiencing similar results with Kristens dad. He did however muster up enough energy to go fishing on the skagit the other day and they caught 4 silvers in under an hour. 12-16lbs each. Good to appreciate the finer things life has to offer. Maybe she has a pic. Our thoughts are with your family as well.

Love the nametags and the coffee mugs. Those are good stuff!

Nah..i hear there is a pill for that now:eek:

I would love one for Lauren as well since we are on that topic. Of course I am also willing to compensate. Additionally, we live close by and I would be happy to lend a hand when needed with trinkets. When I was younger I worked for a small business that made personalized photo shirts, mugs, hats etc with pics and logos and what not. I could lend a hand with some of the trinkets if you likey!

Oh, we're all just good friends. Sometimes we all go boating (we've run into Doug up in the San Juans before) together and sometimes Julie doesn't want to go and Lynne always likes going, so we just go. It seems odd but life is short and sometimes ya just gotta go boating.

P.S. I AM an old bastardo and, yes, Virginia, that pill DOES work. ;>)

Ok Tony,
You need to send out the "DumLuck" signal(like the Bat Signal) so we know who's coming and going....so to speak, prior to Cruises. I suppose the Name tags will help.

Personally I'm not too crazy about Name tags....but won't buck the tide either

On the big "C" topic. It truly does Suck. It's extremely frustrating. Between Doug's Sister, Kristen's Dad, Randy's Dad, JonnyDeep and My Dad(am I missing anyone?) this site and it's members has a tough road ahead. My Dad and JonnyDeep have the same thing. My Dad's last MRI showed new growth in his brain, so he now qualifies for some Study/Treatment program we still are learning what it is, but it sounds like a similar *** whoopin' Jonny Deep's going through.

Be strong

Im really sorry to here that. Cancer just sucks. We really thought my Dad was taking a turn for the better only to find that he has growth in both his chest and his brain. We are looking at a time line as well...few months maybe. I guess we can always hope they are wrong? I will keep your sister (and the others here ) in my thoughts and prayers that all their cancers slow down/go away/quit destroying us all.

On an up side - it was awesome that my Dad got to go on that fishing trip. He said it was one of his best fishing trips ever...which says a lot as my Dad has always been into fishing. I hope your sister has a chance to enjoy whats left, if that is all she has. If nothing else a cool mug with your boat on it should brighten her day!

The idea is that people would be able to match your "handle" with a real name. Come one dude... don't be shy. :)

I agree, especially for newer members, well and any past forgetful ones too ;), it's nice to know who's who... Most members, even the active forum post'rs only know each other by their forum ID name, not their given name. The tags will be nice for any rendezvousesesesesss and activities.

How many IBNW members are there now anyway? There's a glitch in the Community> Member List, it only acknowledges 10 or 12 members. ???

Mike, I do understand you're busy and are trying to get everything more organized but is there an ETA for the tags in the mail? Also, when you have a couple minutes will you correct the "Eagle Lady's" Captain and Admiral "Join Dates" to match please? Even though we perused the site for a lonnnng while before joining, the date should be 04/12/07 for both of us...thanks! ;)

No ETA.

Really low on the priority list of things to do. :)

That's funny

That's why I have my Name in my Signature. As I mentioned I appreciate the sentiment, but I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings when they're not worn.

As we all continue to see each other on the water and at rendezvouseseses we'll get more familiar with one another.
I wore my name on a uniform for 15 years....I'm done with name tags

Thanks again anyhow.

How are we going to tell you apart from the other bald headed guy? Never mind, I know. He has a bayliner and a big black spotted kid.

Todd needs to remain incognito... The Feds are looking for him to help offset the stimulus package...

Maybe we SHOULD charge for not wearing name tags? Put the $ in a kitty for a rainy day fun'd...

SomeSailor

I think that's a DAMNED GOOD idea. We'll make it a plan to pass the hat for anyone not wearing their badge on the first day of each new rendezvous (at least until dark the first night?)

The money can go to year-end pizza fund. :)

Go Aweigh2452
02-01-2009, 08:46 AM
Speaking of that, maybe a few select members should carry deposit slips so we can dump it into the kitty account? That way, we don't have to send the cash to you for deposit? We post online in the administrators/trustees forum what we deposited for all to see to keep it above board. (We're not talking big bucks here I think)... Just keeping everyone that needs to know, know.

There is an other disadvantage using name tags. Mine and not only mine disadvantage is you need a looking glass to read the Characters on name tags! So once I got slapped in the face by a very beautiful lady when I tried to read her name on the name tag and she thought I was looking closely at her breasts!

SomeSailor
02-02-2009, 06:08 AM
I try to avoid looking directly at either Doug's or Todd's breasts.

Franky, they're not much in the looks department... maybe just my hang-up.

I don't think it was the looking, it was when you grabbed the tag and pulled it closer to your face.......
