COMMENTS: As far as I know, this model was only built from '88-'90. Our '89 has the least desireale paint scheme, it was grey sided with some hot pink striping...now gone. It is built on the Avanti hull as opposed to the 2858 on the Contessa hull. It's longer and has almost 11' beam. The cockpit is small, the berthing tight, the head no larger than on most 27 footers...but, the salon is about the same as most 32' to 34' boats. The brochures said at the time it is a more "performance oriented" hull design...I don't know what that means.

I'm looking at buying one. I agree with the sleeping areas are a little odd shaped. I will probably anchor up and just stay in cabins along the coast. How does the boat handle in the water and are there any other obvious problems to look at. The one I'm looking at has new out drives and rebuilt motors with about 50 hours on them. MIKE

I liked this model, but the ones I looked at weren't well kept. I would be skeptical of of the Cobra drives, simply because of parts availability. I'm not sure if that is warranted or not, but I can get parts for mt VP's at the corner store. Practically.
The other thing with this model is it has a really small cockpit. The cabin area is huge though, and pretty well laid out with I nice mid berth.

How do they handle in the water with the planing hull?
