New to the Northwest, I am experiencing the first run off of mud, debris, etc at Everett. So the question is, if I am lucky enough to miss the floating debris, what is the impact of all this "mud" in the water on diesel engines? In other words, "Cruise or Booze" this weekend?

I think we may go out, but we may go up to the Swinomish to avoid the debris. When we go north of there, it is well North of the Skagit.

The silt isn't a problem (it's just muddy water), but keep an eye out for floaters and deadheads. A true "deadhead" is a tree with rootball still attached. They float ball-end down, so all you may see is the tip of the upper trunk sticking out. :( They tend to gather near the shore and narrows too.

My office overlooks the water and it's AWESOME out there right now. Keep a closer eye than normal at the mouth of the Snohomish and the tidal rips and trash lines along your way and you'll be fine.

Where ya headed too?

Timely question. I'm sitting on the boat (12th St. E-1) and trying to decide whether to go out. Just looking at the amount of crap inside the marina I may sit this weekend out. I haven't had a debris strike on the props yet and I'm in no hurry to experience one. I assume it's been raining on the west side. The weather in Yakima has been unseasonably warm, in the 70's last week.
