What a shame huh? The old man was probably batty as a bedbug and spent his life and retirement income building that thing.

Maybe after SS wooden boat project he could try a steel one next!

I'll stick to the wooden one for now thanks. Besides... I've seen my share of steel ships :)

I like the part where you have to dismantle it to move it from the hillside house to the water!

I think that narrow beam was part of his "high efficiency design". You'd roll like a log out there though :)

I'd bet they'd even be dull... :)
It sounds like the guy built it from crap steel in most cases. Talks about the hull being built from "bent plate" ... not hot rolled... bent...
If you get down in the Virgin Islands or Asia... you see boats that look just like that... and even more of them sunk in the shallows.
He's got the prop for sale also on eBay... it's buried in the mud up to one blade :)

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should...

Yeah... the prop looks pretty valuable... you'd think they could sell that if they'd clean it and get it up off the ground onto a pallet or something.

I dunno... there isn't a day that goes by that I don't look down at those tugs under the trestle and wish I owned own. I think they'd make a COOL live-aboard.

Actually he is the one responsible for spinning the recent Governors voting outcome debacle for Chrissie G! Ted
