I'm excited to see King5 caught pictures of the Pacific NW's "J" Pod half way down into Puget Sound yesterday and today near Bainbridge island. Thought I'd share. It's pretty cool and they reported there are 2 new babies.

It's my favorite animal.

Not Orcas but we are pretty sure there were a couple of the Grey Whales about 100 yards of the Mukilteo T dock last night as we were gearing up for a dive. The whale watching ship is at Everett so they must be close.

I saw some gray whales on Saturday at the south end of Hat Island, but they were far away.

With all of our boating I haven't seen whales until yesterday.
For entertainment, go down to the POE on a windy day and listen to the captain of the Whale Watching boat yell at his crew because of his lack of skills. He totally embarrased himself last year during our opening day party with about 100 people watching.

Been there and seen/heard that as well Sean.
I watched him pull off the docks one Sunday morning on a windy high current day. He scraped the stern along the dock until one of the pilings bounce him off into the channel.

We actually inquired about him being moved from the dock for Opening Day this year but it went nowhere.

Is that the wrong way to do it?

When the stern finally hit he was doing a good 7-8 knots. It about shot out into the channel and I saw a few people get thrown around a bit!
I would guess the Capn. Doesn’t own the boat so it's kind of like renting a car - Do you really slow down for the speed bumps in a rental car?:)

Of course not and pilings are more like suggestive guides like on a trailer.

Saturday when Doug and I were fishing off of the south east edge of Whidbey Island the biggest Gray whale I've ever seen made his presence known by breaching three times and blowing. Bugger was chasing all the fish away obviously. Whale sighting boat was on the guest dock in Everett

last year two of them and a baby spent at least 6 weeks in that area. We saw them each time we went out.

She's even been back behind the Naval Station. We were on duty one day and watched her under and alongside the Lincoln. Everybody and their brother was falling over themselves to get pictures. :)
They're pretty cool.
