Since I plan to launch out of Kingston and fish off the south end of Whidbey starting Friday, what places should we look at for overnight? I plan to take Cooper with us but not the dink so anchorages are not good...

Mukilteo? Edmonds? Everett? Langley?

Langley or Edmonds would be good. Can you get moorage at the Navy base? That would be good too. There's nothing in Mukilteo. There are no docks.

Langley is right around the corner(think Pizza) + I saw a few boats fishing the West side of Hat (Gedney) Island.
There were a few boats fishing down near Kingston I saw too.

You should scoot up to Everett Doug. I have some two for one coupons and I could bring the boat down and we could head out first thing in the a.m.

I would probably just bring it down and leave it on the Everett Guest Docks for the night.

I'm not sure how far Kingston is from where you will be fishing. From the south end of Whidby it has to be about the same distance as Everett. Cooper would probably like Kingston it has that great park area and the beach across the parking lot. Stuff to smell and get some exercise.

We are launching from Kingston and have over-nighted there as well. I'd like to stay away from crossing the sound if possible due to sometimes nasty weather. Last trip we were heading to Seattle after Langley and booked it back to Kingston due to the waters..

Aren't you fishing off Columbia Beach? You'd have to cross the Sound anyhow? From Everett to Clinton isn't more than 5-6 miles. I spoke to my neighbor about it yesterday. He said that used to be a very popular stretch of bottom back in the day.

If I get my boat fixed (story for later) I may stay at the Everett guest dock friday as well. There were about 10-12 people fishing the racetrack yesterday. No one at Columbia.

I think what he meant is if he's fishing there, he doesn't want to go back accross to stay the night

OK... but if he's fishing off the Columbia Beach Flats, he will be across the Puget Sound. If he wants to return to Kingston... he will cross the Puget Sound again. :)

Must rougher trip than a run to Clinton in the a.m.

Anyhow... it'll be a good chance to harass the Springers one last time. I'll be at Everett Friday night and probably Saturday as well.

I plan to launch at Kingston and stay on the east side of Puget Sound. I am staying in Everett Friday PM for sure. I am making plans for dinner reservations to go to Anthonys with friends Friday PM. (My area manager, and his wife, for NJROTC). Anyone else wanting to meet up and eat starting at happy hour, let me know.

I intend to call and make marina reservations at the dock near Anthony's I hope...

Mila has a dance competition one day Sat or Sun, I don't know yet. I'll find out tonight. Maybe Luke and I can head back out again.

Cool Doug. Unless the weather is super chunky. I'll run the boat down Friday night after work. I have those two-for-one coupons too if you're staying Saturday. It's a silly short run over to Columbia Beach. I was thinking there or Elger Bay or the race track for some fishing.

Gotta wet some line before the season closes. :)

So where is the "race track"? Since that side is new to me... I wanna know... ;}

I called the marina and they are first come first serve. I suppose I should have held on to one of those two fers I gave you Mike? If you are in the area, sure, I'll take one. I hope to be inside the breakwater near Anthony's.

They were about empty this past Sat. Though we would see a few more boats since the sun made it out.

Most people do not know it but you can also get inside on the south end of the guest dock. When you are approaching the marina you will see the ramp leading up to Anthony's. The guest dock ends slightly south of the ramp. You can get around the south end of the guest dock and tie up inside. It is a tight fit for larger boats but you should not have any problem.

Anyway take a look as you are going in and see what you think. This time of year you should not have any problem finding space.

Oh yeah the race track is a loop from the south end of Camano Island to the north end of GedneyIisland. If you look at the charts you will see a shelf that runs through that area. They just go out and troll in a loop.

inside on the south end of the guest dock
There is a boat broker down there right now that takes up all most all that space.
Don't think he will be there all season? I didn't see them last year.

The Everett slip manager mentioned the occupied slips but said there is lots of room there anyway. She tried to get me to go to the "new" area to the north of Anthony's... Will try for the Anthony's area. She said they have 30 and 50 amp service on that break water too. Should be an easy in/out for a little guy like me... :argh2

We plan on din din at 5PM and happy hour starting at 3PM till 6:30...

Doug,

You will be fine this time of year to get on the guest dock on Friday afternoon.

Lots of room without a doubt.
