Yesterday was my Father's Memorial service. I wanted to thank Doug and Lea (GoAweigh2452) for not only attending but for arriving in His Navy Dress Blues and coordinating a Flag ceremony, and Lea's Flag box that without them would not have happenend.
To our surprise we also had another member of my Father's Shrine that was a Navy man, and offered to play taps for us.
It was a great service. Thank you both again for the flag hunt at the Flag store that doesn't existing any longer.
Your generosity and guidance through this has been amazing.
Your professional appearance and practice brought honor to my Dad and Mother.
Thank you both from my whole family.

But do want to say that Doug and I were moved by your loving tribute to your dad and getting to send our condolences personally to your family. You are very lucky to have such a warm and loving family and large group of friends. We love you both and know your pain. Time for healing, and time to do what your dad would want you to do... Enjoy being out on your boat and reflecting!

That's Doug and Lea for you....they always go the extra mile and then some. Good people.
Todd, it sounds like a great ceremony for you and your family. Sounds like your Pops would be happy to have had a send off like that.
Best wishes to you and your family...

Yes I'm sure he's sorry to have missed it. Everyone I spoke to yesterday said he would have been proud. So that was nice to hear. My Mom held up well too. If was good to see so many of their friends I haven't seen for years. All in all it was as good as those types of events can go.
Thank you Tony.

Lea and I truly appreciate the comments.
I want to point out that it was our pleasure to ensure Todd's dad got the right send off he deserved. Being a VN vet, he needed to be sent off with military decorum. We always take care of our own (military). I take this very personally and with the utmost pride. It was truly our pleasure to honor Todd's dad and mom. Having taps played was just the icing on the cake. I don't think there was a dry eye in the hall.
To see well over 200, maybe 300 or more friends show up on a Monday mid day says a lot for Todd's family and the respect his family has in the community. I was honored to present the flag to Todd's mom. For those who don't know, when presented the folded flag, the following words are expressed to the bereaved...
"On behalf of the President of the United States and the Chief of Naval Operations, please accept this flag as a symbol of our appreciation for your loved one's service to this Country and a grateful Navy and country. "
Then we take a step back and slow salute the bereaved.
By the way, we had a couple of youngsters from Todd's extended family come up to us and introduce themselves. Pretty cool having an 8 yr old come up to you and say hi... Your family is really cool Todd... we were impressed with their demeanor at their age...

With tears streaming reading this and Mo describing how your presentation went, as Troy and I stood on stage, I cannot, one more time express how much you and Lea's presence and assistance means to me.
I've posted the video links here.

I particularly enjoyed meeting the young man, perhaps 8 to 10 years old, I believe he was your dad's grandson who introduced himself to us, shook Doug's hand and said Thank You for what you said. He was wearing a flag pin on his shirt!

Hi Lea
That was probably Tyler, Troy's son, my nephew. He was awestruck by Doug and is fascinated with the military right now. He wears my Dad's dog dish cap all the time.
