For Fathers day (#1), the Admiral bought me a flashlight size sonar gun/fish detector with temperature indicator. Both read in tenths...

Good to 199 ft.

Plan to use it in my dink when crabbing... No guessing how deep I am when I drop the pots...:argh2

That'll be awesome for crabbing!

No more waiting to see if the float goes under. :)

As a diver, you can use it to measure distance to targets (200 ft) while under water. Good to 300 ft depth before it will impode...

That sounds pretty neat. What is the brand? Do you happen to have a link?

Years ago I purchased a portable fishfinder that clamps on the transom of the Livingston and is powered by three C batteries. It is great for lake fishing. I'd never thought about using in the inflatable. Great idea. It also gives me an indication of the type of bottom--sandy, rocky, etc. I'm going to use it when we try crabbing July 1.

Randy;

Are you putting in at Everett? I'll be out there on the 1st tearing up my favorite spots. If so, when are you planning on heading up to Port Townsend?

Let me emphasize.. it's not #1.. It's the one and only! :roll: Subtle reminder you won't be home for the real one

LMAO, at least he got it before instead of when he gets back.

Could not sleep this AM and the dog followed me downstairs to watch TV around 3AM. Of course I stepped in an accident he had left on the kitchen floor. (Rarely does this sort of thing)... Let him out, cleaned up and let him back in only to find another "present". Poor guy must have had some nasty stuff last night... At least it was not on the carpet... :eek:

So that was from Cooper... grumble grumble

Mike--we're coming over Thursday evening, June 25. We're slinging in at Edmonds on the 26th and heading to Gig Harbor. We'll be at Gig Harbor the 26th and 27th. (Family wedding on Sat evening). Sunday we're heading to Poulsbo for the evenings of the 28th and 29th. Then up to Port Townsend (Pt. Hudson) for Tuesday and Wednesday nights, 30th and July 1st. I'm setting pots in Townsend Bay Wed and Thurs. Thursday, Friday and Saturday are still undecided. I called John Wayne marina for reservations on Thurs, Friday and Sat nights but they don't make reservations. (I want to try crabbing off Dungeness Spit). The fellow at John Wayne said to call Thursday morning and make reservation for Thursday, Friday and Sat. He said it shouldn't be a problem to get a slip assignment. If we can't get in at John Wayne we may head back towards Kingston. It would be fun to meet up with everyone at FH, but I want to crab on Friday and Saturday. Too bad the WDFW delayed the San Juan Island opening.
