MARYSVILLE - Come July 1, drivers used to hitting the gas just after reaching Marysville on northbound I-5 will have to wait a bit before opening up the throttle!

I'd like to see some real data on speed-caused accidents before and after the change. I'd doubt that we will see a difference.

I think it all coming from the fatal accident during this past Memorial day weekend.
But I agree with you - the Autobahn(sp) is still one of the safest highways in the world!

They just had another yesterday. It is getting pretty frequent through there.

reduce the speed???....morons will just go faster is all.....need to teach a bit of defensive driving in school better......like attach a bunch of spikes in the back and front of your car and see how much room they give you afterwards!!! :lol: :lol: :lol:

I drive threw there allot and it is all the nuts on the road speeding through the area, and the current construction, just on Sunday when coming home from La Conner there was a motor home pulling a older boat on a trailer that looked like it had seen its day doing 85 in the fast lane!! changing lanes left and right, it is guys like this which are causing these problems, they need to SLOW down. right when I was exiting a new ford truck was along side of him screaming at him and giving him the 1 finger salute.

I always thought that attaching a large sharpened spike on the steering wheel and dash would slow most of us down.

Its just insane what you see through that area, cars weaving in and out of the lane's, it is no surprise they have had these accidents, I have seen so many cars actually racing each other from up North to Everett, they always seem to be these little Honda cars with the stereo blasting, spoiler on the trunk/ Gangster wanna Be's blasting down the road. :?

gotta love those rice burners with the wing on the back...the friggin stereo costs more than the whole car...and most of the time it's so loud that your hair blows forward rather than back from the noise......
I think they are trying to see at what speed that friggin wing becomes effective!! ;)
I used to play with go fast hot rods and stuff when I was young and stupid....we used to street drag or stoplight drag racing back home...but those days are gone since 1) there is too much traffic, and 2) friggin dangerous as hell....lost some friends from street racing when they would wrap themselves around a tree.....most kids don't have the skills to drive fast ..yet they think they are mario or something...maybe they are thinking it's a video game ....no reset button in real life....
either way..it's getting crazier all the time in that stretch of the road.....

One of my favorite questios to ask the rice burners - " How much horse power did you gain adding the stickers and the R on your car?" :lol:

mike...evidently I had really good driving skills...I'm still here while alot of my friends back then aren't!!....
stickers...good one...I'll have to try and remember that line....
those rice burners just sound like a large fart to me....all noise and no horsepower... :lol:

I would think all you so called engineers would find the technology that the kids are using to make a small displacement car go fast to be fascinating.
Instead you have all become your fathers and darn it all those punk kids just do everything wrong.

Well I would suggest that you look into the high tech stuff that make these "rice burners" {nice racist slant on that} go fast and appreciate the fact that it is exactly the same as the hot rod days of the 50's. {that is when most of you were in your teens right :lol: }

or you stop complaining about all the world problems and come up with a solution.

JMHO :argh

my dad once told me that "mind yourself, one day your gonna sound just like me!!"....and damned if he wasn't right....times have changed....more people on the road than when I was racing.....cars are faster..making more ponies with smaller packages....I love the tech.....but to quote my dad...there's a time and place for this stuff....and with a couple thousand more people on the same road and little kids running all over the place.....this ain't the time or the place.......plus thier version of rock and roll sucks!!....or is it rap?? :?
hey Stomper...one day your gonna sound just like your dad....and when it hits you...your gonna do what we did....shake your head and say "oh maaaaaaaaaaaaaan...he finally got me" :lol: :lol: :lol:

With Olympic's connection to Car Toys lately, I'm simply amazed at the cool stuff they can put into cars these days. And to your humor I'm sure today I'm having a subwoofer encloser and power amp installed in my Durango, heck I'm older than most of you and I'm not old I love the sound abilities not to mention the volume. :lol:

I keep pointing out that it takes no special skill to run a loud car in an unsafe manner on the public roads. So you can go faster than my old truck, fine. So you want to risk your life, fine. Where I object is that too often it is our innocent wives, kids and friends who get hurt or killed. That is not fine. If they really want to prove something, take it to the track and test it against other cars.

rice burners" {nice racist slant on that}
I apologize if I offend - But do a search it pretty much applies to any high performance import car. (I don't even want to go into whats an import or not)
The technology hasn't changed in the years (still an air breathing fuel burning engine for the most part), except for the computer mods.
But when one of them tells me the got a 20 horse power increase on a 87 horse power engine by adding an KN filter and a muffler with a 4" tip I just smirk and walk away
:roll:

Mike I am 37 ( for at least 2 1/2 more months )

Sea Pup, I already catch myself saying and doing things just like my Dad, ( Sometimes it really freaks me out ). Music changes all the time, if you like blues derived rock and roll then listen to the current crop of country. If you like gangsta rap, then listen to Bulldog (another non-African rapper ala eminem). The lines are blurred now, everything old is new and everything new is old.

And I don't disagree that people could drive better or be more mature in all of their actions, but that is what being young is all about. I am sure my elders thought the same about me when I was younger and modifying my cars and trucks. Now I just buy the hi pro versions so that I can easily exceed the posted speed limit.

rice burners" {nice racist slant on that}

No offense to me, I just find it ironic that we call a small car from a Japanese company a rice burner, but if in fact they did build one that ran on rice we would all have them.

Also I am looking for a new vehicle and I got to tell you, that the bottom of the list would be a US designed and built car. The quality is horrible. Now we still make a good truck here, but the rest of the world is catching up here also.

Again all this is just MHO
