Seeing Camano Hal's post about getting rescued got me thinking. I see that he (Captain Rodriquez) was able to get a new distributor cap and rotor at carquest. I'm wondering about the differences in a marine vs automotive cap? The rotor I would assume would be no different.
I know that starters and alternators are "sealed" to not allow gas fumes to enter and potentially ignite and there are internal differences in carbs and fuel pumps, but Distributor caps, what's the difference?

Marine distributor caps are sealed or have a brass screen on vented caps to make them ignition protected.

Some distributors won't even accept automotive caps.
