A couple of weeks ago my inverter (Trace 2,500 watt) died. It came with the boat and we believe that it is about 7-8 years old. We are thinking about sending it in to be repaired, but don't know if they repair something that old.
While looking for a replacement inverter (looked at Heart, etc) I ran across one from Tripp Lite. The model is a APS2012 that is rated for 2000 watts. The details can be found here: www.tripplite.com/product...ductID=178
The primary selling point of the Tripp Lite is the price. It can be found for around $600 vs $1100 for the Heart.
My concern is that if it is that much less expense, there must be a reason. But in looking at it, it seems to be a good unit. Tripp Lite has been around a long time and is used in many industrial and communications facilities.
Anyone have any experience or thoughts about this?
David
PS We use the inverter several times a year when on the hook, primarily for coffee, occasional microwave and/or TV/DVD.
